Description There have been a LOT of different “how introverts work" infographics and explanations on the internet since I first proposed this analogy in a vote incentive of TNH . Some of them are really good! But I still like this one. c: It's something my extroverted friends could get behind that doesn’t also imply that I’m a special snowflake princess that must be treated just so. YOU DON'T HAVE TO TREAT ME SPECIAL YOU JUST HAVE TO BE OKAY WITH ME NEEDING YOU TO GO AWAY SOMETIMES.

So I made a poster! *u* Perhaps it would be handy to hang up in your room or dorm?????? If you’re coming to OTAKON this weekend you should stop by The Athena Studio table and get one!

So...I just did my provincial exam here in British Columbia. English 12. This comic was part of section A. Just wondering if you knew about your comic being used in a government exam? Because god damn, that's one way to get your name out there to like, every Grade 12 in Canada.

Oh my gosh!! Someone on tumblr told me about this too! I did know they were gonna use it (they contacted me to get permission and paid to use it in "testing material" and everything) but I didn't know how it would be used -- it's VERY SURREAL to get recognised on a English test!! xD Thank you so much for telling me, this is amazing xD

i dont even know what i am. i prefer staying in my house and when i leave and go to the outside world i just dont want to it feels uncomfortable?e.e but i do want to go out visit countrys and stuff i dont even..

I want that poster that I can carry it around and show it to people! I LOVE people and interaction, but it makes me feel so tired and stressed out.  I missed about 1 day a week of school when I went to public school, not because I was sick, but just because I couldn't handle any more social contact. My mom thinks I'm depressed when I don't want to go outside the house, maybe I'll use this analogy.

Love this! It's my favorite explanation of an introvert as well, and I very much agree with it. Apparently lots of my friends agree too because I shared your art on Facebook, and lots of people like it Really wish I could go to Otakon to meet you and to get the poster version of it. Yep, I'm very much this way. Very well socialized because of parental and work demands, but i tire of other people easily... and not because i don't like or love them.

The people that i love know, sometimes i just gotta disappear... go back to my cave and be away from others for a bit.

But that I'll come back because its me and not them.

One question though, the one idea that says introverts need "me time" to recharge implies people in a sense sucks away the introvert's energy. Isn't that the same thing as saying people make introverts tired as you've explained it?

Yup! The poster is just me explaining it in a different way! 


Most people have heard that introverts need "me time" to recharge, but a lot of my extroverted friends didn't really grasp what that meant practically ("I just hung out with you yesterday, I do not want to hang out with you today, I want to chill in my room!" "What? Why? Do you not like me or...?") until I described it as being socially tired and needing to rest. 


For some reason that made more sense to them --  probably because they don't need that "me time" and so that description wasn't something they could relate to. But everyone gets tired!

Oh ok, thank you for explaining Haha I understand what you mean, I get scared people might think I don't like them or something or when strangers ask to be friends with me they get so confused and completely don't understand that I simply can't do that because I am not a very social creature and I need to warm up to a person gradually.  I can't just say " I don't know you, but sure! Let's hang out and go to wherever you want to go!" I hate explaining people my ways haha That's another thing about introverts, we can't just magically be totally cool with just anybody, especially a stranger!


Too much social energy is needed to socialize!

Thank you so much for posting this. My mom keeps saying I'm antisocial and pushes for me to have a larger social life, even though I'm perfectly content with the small amount of friends I have. I understand it's parental instinct to want your child to have healthy social development, but that can be achieved even with introverts.  It's not that I don't like socializing, it's just that I can only do so much of it before I just want to be alone.
