I wonder where you found your inspiration...

I figured that infants would be easier to sculpt than adults, and since I wanted a nice skeletal reference for my first maquette, I used the Papo Deinonychus figure and modified the my wire armature to my needs.

Lol Thanks! I appreciate it .Did you use a wire armature under the Sculpey?

blackwolf6249 In reply to she1badelf [2012-05-14 01:02:41 +0000 UTC]

yeah and foil too. I had to mount it on something that resembled a rock because it wouldn't stand up like yours. The feet and hands were a pain in the ASS! I'll post it up here later so you can see it.

Yes they are!!!! Teeth are a pain, too XP ! I would like to try something a little bigger next time, and more complicated. Like maybe a dragon...but then again, I have some sketches for a pteranodon hatchling. Have you ever used wire mesh for maquettes? And sweet! I'd love to see it

I know! I just have to finish painting the eyes and the rock he's standing on. then I'll post the before and after painting pics.

cool! is this dinosaur the ancestor of the velicoraptor? they look identical!o.0

she1badelf In reply to HollyBear007 [2012-05-13 23:34:27 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! And that depends: If you're speaking of the "Velociraptors" used in Jurassic Park, they weren't actually velociraptors at all! They substituted Deinonychus in their stead, so that the on-screen dinosaurs would be more...Imposing. Deinonychus were 6' tall and 16' long, while Velociraptors were only 3.5' -4' tall, and 6' long. They are from the same family though, and are closely related
