Theoretically you did. You see, anything beyond the 'Weißwurstequator' ('white sausage equator', i.e Bavaria) is very different from the rest of Germany ...
Well, at least in some aspects. Sometimes people will joke that Bavaria isn't even Germany

Their dialect is rather strange (more similar to austrian than to high German) , they're a lot closer to their customs and traditions than the other regions of Germany and they have a sense of nationality that, well, is similar to the relationship between Italy and Sardegna. Some lucid voices have even called for independence... Of course, this doesn't apply to all Bavarians, especially not in the larger cities, but the fact that the conservative party (CDU) has a sister party that solely operates in Bavaria kinda speaks for itself...
