Description Found this pic from the same tour that produced the previous one [link] and did some work on it. Somehow the remaining dust particles in the lens are fitting for this scenario, though I got rid of the largest ones by severely cropping the image. Maybe you won't notice them at all

Basically sunset against some smoke or steam belching pipes within the premises of the Bayer factory. I quite like the results after playing around with the colour a little bit to enhance the atmosphere

So what do you think? Should I work on more shots like this, or concentrate more on the railroad pics?

I want that as a picture on my office wall!

Heh, thank you kindly! Sadly though, the quality is rather lousy, thanks to the compact camera I had lamented earlier.

You can take pictures like that with a lousy camera!

I like this shot ALOT...

It's the whole contrast thing, dark building, with brilliantly illuminated sky. The steam/smoke is just great to look at.

I only see a little dust in the photo, but I am coughing on smoke.

Thanks a lot! Glad to hear that the dust didn't rape this pic completely, but as the guy who took it, I of course know where it was, such as the speck still on the pic to the far right, or the one that just around the lefthand pipe

Luckly, it's only steam, but thanks to photoshop, it looks icky green now

This view kinda makes man feel that in close future we're gonna have an atmosphere of smoke

Hehe, hopefully not I think it's only steam, but photoshop can work wonders.

Guess you're right although all those chimney-like pipes baffle me a bit. But the view of power plant coolant towers that scares the shit out of all "ecologists" is in fact really just a harmless steam...

Hehe, yeah, that is kinda stupid really... Every time there is some news about global warming, the eithe show ice breaking off and falling into the ocean (something which happens anyways) and cooling towers of power plants, as if they're some huge evil smoking chimneys...

As I observe the all year weather in our country sometimes it makes me think that there is some impact on the environment. There is less and less snow in the winter and during summer the weather is very unstable.

I've got the feeling, that people often see anything unusual about the weather as a sign of global warming, maybe if we wouldn't be told about it all the time by the media, we wouldn't worry so much about the weather. But that's just my idea

Well I admit some people wouldn't worry about that but someone would even if he wasn't aware of the global warming. Over the years it's becoming quite visible that something is changing...

I'd always go for good-pictures-no-matter-what-subject.

I like this very much. It has the austerity of a strong picture, and it's both beautiful and - because of the absence of people - disturbing.

shenanigan87 In reply to EricForFriends [2008-11-21 10:47:13 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, good point!

Out of curiosity though, why would you also consider it as disturbing?

EricForFriends In reply to shenanigan87 [2008-11-21 12:00:33 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, eerie is perhaps a better word. For me it gives the (very subjective) impression that these factories are going on on their own, with their own plans.

shenanigan87 In reply to EricForFriends [2008-11-21 13:54:49 +0000 UTC]

Ah, now I get it In that case, you're right, these parts of the factory don't seem to see to many people, many parts of the production are automated or remote controlled.

I like the contrast in the smoke. It looks so unnatural...

Yeah, nice shot, keep experimenting on this scenes
