Nice Shot.
Think That Strikes Me Tho Is How Much The Movement From Side To Side Of The Overhead Wires Are. Presuming To Wear The Pantos Evenly, But I Never Realised It Was As Violent A Swap As That.

Thanks!
Yeah, if it would be straight, it would cut into the contact shoe. I think it's mostly due to the perspective and the lens, it wouldn't seem that extreme when viewed with the naked eye (as the distance between the pylons becomes almost non-existant in this shot).

From what I read, it has more to do with the whole Abellio case and the questions of franchising law that were ultimately decided against DB and the VRR. Due to those, the lines S5 and S8 were tendered, with new EMUs part of the requirements. The plan is to use the 422s that are currently on those lines and run the S6 and S68 with them starting december 2014, when the new trains arrive.
DB Regio, who won the tender after a very, very, very close race, will use Alstom Coradia Continental trains, similar to the class 440, but with a new crash-safe front. You can find a picture of that in the press release: [link]
Pretty, isn't it?

Ugh... The pug face on speed, yes, very pretty... Oh well, at least we'll have the 422s then.
