OMG, this is AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING! And the title is not lame! >:L Shame on you! You should be proud of something that is so lamely awesome!
I love the water(? I think it's water) or whatever it's standing on <333 and the water coloring was a perfectly awesome idea! I love how you made it look, and with the pinks and blues and everything, it looks great! I hope that I can pull of great things like this once I get Photoshop. <33

Hahahah!! THANK YOU SO MUCH, NEON~! <333 Even though I still think my title is lame. XD
Actually, I was going for grass, but it was supposed to look like I'd done it in watercolors, so I don't blame you for thinking it was actually water. XD Sometimes it's hard to tell - especially with my half-assed backgrounds like this one. OTL Backgrounds will forever be the bane of my existence...Eep, but anyways...!! Thank you so much! <3 I worked hard to try and go a bit outside my comfort zone since I've never really done anything like him before. I'm glad it seems to have come out alright. ;w; I had a lot of fun with the colors and petals! <3
Actually, I only used Photoshop for the transparent background on this. XD I did the lineart, coloring, and shading on Paint Tool SAI. :3 I've always preferred the coloring and actual drawing on SAI, but I do like the neat effects of Photoshop - and that I can add text and textures and what not. X3

No problemo Dark. Shhh...the title's not lame >:L
Oooh...well then cool grass! Ya, I couldn't tell if it was walking/standing on water and everything...so I just assumed it was water as you used water colors and everything. But the background is amazing! It doesn't really look half-assed, it looks like you spent a good amount of time on it! Backgrounds...are just terrible to do, I like the coloring of characters and a little bit of background, but when I have to do a total background...it kills me, and sometimes makes my art look like butt cheeks.
Really? I finally learned how to use Photoshop with it's transparent backgrounds (man that makes me sound like an idiot), but I couldn't find it before my friend told me here it was. I wish I could use Paint Tool SAI, I think it would be great experience to use that as well as Adobe products (Which we're learning how to use in Graphis Design at my school) .

Hahah!! No worries - I even got confused looking at it after I read your comment. I was like, 'did I make it water...? I could have sworn it was grass.' I totally didn't remember for a moment there. OTL Ahh, but thank you anyways! Even though it's a pretty shoddy background by my standards. It's the kind of simple and quick background I do when I get lazy...or honestly have NO idea what to do. XD Next time I do an attempt at a digital watercolor of this guy, I'll put in a REAL background. Well, maybe. I might get lazy, who knows. XD
Pshh, but I know how you feel. Sometimes I feel like backgrounds ruin an already nice picture. OTL That's why I try to avoid doing them...I always get nervous it'll mess things up. That's why, if I'm doing a background for sure, I do the background first. XDDD
That's one thing I like about Photoshop - transparent backgrounds! I can't seem to figure it out on SAI. I actually don't even know if it's possible on there to be honest. O.e Pshh, go for the Photoshop! It's more popular and widely used as compared with SAI. :3 SAI's cheaper though! I got mine for fifty bucks, and have downloaded it to multiple devices...because I kept losing it. XD

XD I would to, as I don't think it made a lot of sense since you see one thing, and I see another with the background. I stink at backgrounds, so think of it this way, you're better than someone out there in the world, even if you're not the best. Simple and quick backgrounds are common, but just as interesting to look at and see the small details that artists tend to put in, I still have to attempt one in Photoshop, but unfortunately, my laptop's not working that great, internet got cut off for some reason. (Using my parents PC right now D I wish I could attempt a paint like picture with SAI, but Photoshop is more for digital editing than drawing, but still, it works fine <33
Sometimes I get so frustrated with backgrounds, most of the time I just scratch it and try something else, but end up with worse results. If I do do any, I think it would be the ones with a partial background, like this one, which would make it so much more easier than a whole background. I envy *Whitelinxanimator500 and ~Yolly-anda for their wonderful background skills, I would most likely die trying to attempt something so beautiful and well done as theirs.
Transparent backgrounds make things so much easier, I remember when I used MS Paint, that I would always have to select the background color for deviantART, which was a pain to do all the time since I had to open multiple windows, making my computer run even slower (It's rather old D I'm not so sure about SAI, most of the time, people tell me that it's when you open a blank file that you can change from white, black and transparent, but I really don't know anything about SAI. Just Photoshop, but I can't work with the professional Photoshops (CS6 and stuff) since I'm still learning in my Graphic Design class. It's harder than I thought with all the different things you can do, it's so much more interesting, and less limited than Elements or SAI to me personally. Although SAI's cheaper by around 30-50 dollars compared to Elements, I'm still slightly skeptical around it since you have to buy it from the company online. Plus, my parents don't like the idea of spending their money on a website they don't know as well. (We had to order my Photoshop on Amazon because they didn't have it at Frye's Electronics or Best Buy) The good thing about Elements though, is that I have a disc for Windows and Mac, so if I ever get an Apple's computer, I have the disc I can download it from <33 So far, I'm loving it.

Hahah, that's generally how things go. You'll always be far from the worst, but still equally as far from the best. Such is life. *shrugs* Not that it's necessarily a bad thing of course. It's sort of humbling to know there will always be someone out there who's significantly better than me at something. I wouldn't say I'm bothered by it, but it certainly gives me something to strive for, you know? If you're the best, then there's no way to set a goal of improvement. OTL But yesh, I generally prefer simpler backgrounds as well, although I can't deny that I greatly appreciate the details that tend to be packed into more complicated ones. So long as a background doesn't take away from the focus of an image of course. :3
When I get frustrated with backgrounds...I give up and just make it transparent. XD Heehee. Backgrounds always irritate me! Sometimes I find doing the background first makes a difference, since I get the worst part over with first, and then can properly focus the image on the main subject. At least in my experience anyways. I'm sure it doesn't always work for others. T.T Entire backgrounds though, they're so difficult! My backgrounds are always partial. I've only done a handful of pictures with a full background - like my last TGB assignments. >.< I always worry I'll get judged for half-assing them if I don't put a fancy background. OTL But anyways! Yesh, Yolly's definitely one of those people who do very nice backgrounds! I can't say anything about Linx's though, since I don't watch her - I actually have no idea what her art is like! XD But I do hear she's pretty popular, so she must be good if she has a following. :3
Oh ickk...that does sound tedious. I've never tried to work with MS Paint much before, but I can see myself being irritated with having to make the background the same color as dA's default page color. Especially since MS Paint doesn't exactly have layers. O.o I'd just about die using it - I like a healthy amount of layers!! XD Slash, they just make my life so much easier, heehee. Don't worry though...even though I own CS5 coincidentally, I have absolutely no idea how to use it. I only use it to add a fancy effect here or there, or make the background transparent, or had a 'glow' of white around an image. Or ad text - that's one thing SAI is certainly lacking in. X3 I'm not very good with Photoshop though is my point, so don't worry about it! It takes a lot of practice and patients, and since I'm far too lazy and can't afford to take a graphics class at my university, I'll never learn! XD You'll get there though! Just keep working hard in those classes, and you'll get Photoshop down in no time at all! *w* And then you'll be producing art more amazing than the rest of us! XD Oh, but I've never quite used Elements, so I'm not too sure how it works...but if it's an Adobe product, it's bound to be good. I'm sure you'll be able to do fantastic things with it! *w* Heehee, and I can't wait to see! <3

Thank you! I never really thought of it like that, but I can see what you're saying. I actually like the idea of it. XDD
It's supposed to be a male, but somehow he ended up looking a bit feminine. It's pretty hard to tell what his gender is. OTL
