Description
DescriptionTitle from an episode of The X-Files. My half of an art trade with Kassillea-s , featuring her character named Ren, whose design is both alluring and complex. I had to lay the flats on this three times because it wasn't coming out exactly the way I wanted. I think finally I've gotten it presentable. Kas told me I didn't have to make the pink markings exactly like they were on the ref, but I hope I didn't change them too much. I really liked the diamond/petal motif, so I kept it and repeated it throughout the design.
As always, get a crispy version by downloading. I added some noise because it's been a long time since I've done that and I thought it suited this one. Thank you, everyone, for keeping me company while I worked on this in Livestream! I'm sorry you didn't get to see me color it!

I like the . . . drips? of gold that carry interest through the vertical space.Β I also think it's really tantalizing to see your painting style married with your lineart, both of which are exceptional.Β I hope this is something you'll consider doing more in the future.Β Β

I finally could take enough time to comment on this properly, sorry for not commenting for so long q-q honestly I was so shook when I saw this for the first time after you uploaded it.
Really, I didnβt expect it to be a splash of colours, but Iβm very pleased how everything turned out! You came up with harmonic color composition and lights from below, and I especially love these straight trails of light,.. this is my favorite trade ever! The details are so well done, as always, and just simply... everything you draw becomes majestic?!? I died q_q
I love how you interpreted his runes, now Iβll probably change them to be in this style quq everything is just so beautiful,, gosh Iβm speechlessΒ

Aah! I'm so so so so (so) glad you like him. The first time I colored him, he turned out pretty dull, which is why I recolored him. The saturated colors turned out really well against the dark lit pose. Thank you for doing a trade with me!

It just occurred to me, looking at the wings,Β if you ever wanted to do an anatomy diagram of how you visualize the wing anatomy coming together underneath the skin, that would be super helpful.Β I know everyone thinks of it different anyway, but I have a hard time grasping what makes sense to me and it can be frustrating sometimes..

Heya! I usually base my dragon wings from bird wings. So I wouldn't need to make a diagram (unless the hands/fingers is what you mean), but I have some really nice anatomical illustrations from an ornithology book if you want them!
