Description This is something that I had to do for some people who think that have trouble drawing Lightning. I do this hoping that it helps them out a bit.

If you guys think about it, Lightning is like the veins of this world. I decided to put 3 of my OC's for the demo to show how Lightning flows throughout a character's body. It can flow in several patterns and It can do the same for an object. You can also color the lightning at whatever color you want. What matters is that you have fun doing it if you like it. You can also add layer effects to it in order to add more visual effects to it too. Well hope you guys find this useful and if not, then let me know what it needs and I'll make further work out of this tutorial.

Nice! I'm gonna have to try and draw Gambu-Style sometime.

Now, what is this "photoshop brush"? And how can I use it in GIMP?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shinobi-Gambu In reply to Maxfield-Elite [2009-12-18 01:36:48 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

It's Photoshop brush but you can do it on Gimp as well, but I have never tried GIMP Myself.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Maxfield-Elite In reply to Shinobi-Gambu [2009-12-18 01:39:59 +0000 UTC]

They're supposed to be similar, but GIMP being absolutely free.

Shinobi-Gambu In reply to Maxfield-Elite [2009-12-18 02:03:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah! If Photoshop has it, Gimp should have such feature too.

Maxfield-Elite In reply to Shinobi-Gambu [2009-12-18 19:53:18 +0000 UTC]

What does this brush look like?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shinobi-Gambu In reply to Maxfield-Elite [2009-12-18 20:04:05 +0000 UTC]

You can change the shape of the brush in Photoshop in different ways, and you can adjust it to as many pixels as you wish. You can also make it either rough or soft for the brush.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Maxfield-Elite In reply to Shinobi-Gambu [2009-12-18 20:05:16 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I can do that in GIMP, too, but what brush is good for lightning?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shinobi-Gambu In reply to Maxfield-Elite [2009-12-18 20:07:00 +0000 UTC]

The softest ones are always the best for lightning!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Maxfield-Elite In reply to Shinobi-Gambu [2009-12-18 20:11:02 +0000 UTC]

So, a fuzzy brush! I think I can manage that. And I know I have to colorize it later to make the hue. Anything else I should know? Or am I all set?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shinobi-Gambu In reply to Maxfield-Elite [2009-12-18 20:13:37 +0000 UTC]

Fuzzy brush works best on lightning and Here's another tip:

Go up the toolbar and click Layer > Layer Styles > Outer Glow and check what you get. It glows whatever you brush.
