SF 30th Anniversary Tribute- Street Fighter Alpha!
Our ongoing 30 Anniversary Tribute for the Street Fighter games is going into its third and so far biggest round now after we completed the work on the excellent Street Fighter II Tribute (http://www.game-art-hq.com/111931/our-street-fighter-anniversary-art-collaboration-the-world-warriors-of-street-fighter-ii/)
Now its time for Street Fighter Alpha, its sequels and updates up to the last releases of Street Fighter Alpha 3 that got the few extra characters from CVS2 like Eagle and Maki. This means we have over 30 characters this time.

The idea stays the same, draw one of the SF characters in the Street Fighter Alpha look in a fullbody illustration without a Background and submit it via a .png file.
The illustrations are hosted on Game-Art-HQ.com with descriptions about the characters and their specific roles in the SF Alpha games, beside that description, every a

Wanted to do another Alpha character after drawing Charlie Nash here:

Rolento was actually one of my favorite characters to use in the Alpha series. His unique, quick and versatile move-set made him a favorite of mine.

He's one of the few characters to bring a weapon (like freaking grenades) to a fight.
Among his weapons was a nasty set of wiring he used to string up opponents with his 'Take No Prisoners' Super move.
So I did just that. Which opponent foolishly underestimated this crazed Mad Gear leader?
Looks like Sakura.

Rolento's one cold dude. Not even the young can be spared from his relentless goal of establishing his own military utopia through street fighting.
Also indicates he's not all there in the head either.

Rolento belongs to Capcom

He is one of the many characters that successfully transited from the Final Fight Series to the Street Fighter Series, sadly also the most underrated.

This picture you've done of Rolento performing such a special attack on Sakura looks very nice, and I'm surprised he never actually did something like this when he was a boss enemy in "Final Fight" as well.

I never actually played Final Fight but it looks like something I really should take a crack at.

Really? If you do get a chance to play "Final Fight", I would definitely recommend any version of the game except the SNES version because of that version having quite few things removed when it was ported on the console. In fact, here is a list of the notable differences between the arcade version and SNES version of the game:

1. The arcade version features two-player gameplay, but the SNES version is single-player only.
2. The arcade version features three playable characters to choose from (Guy, Cody, and Haggar), but the SNES version has only two playable characters to choose from (Cody and Haggar), though there was an alternate version of the game released known as "Final Fight Guy" that featured Guy as a playable character replacing Cody.
3. The arcade version includes the Industrial Area stage with Rolento as the boss, but the SNES version has the stage and boss removed, most likely due to technical limitations at the time of its release.
4. The arcade version features a couple of female enemies named Poison and Roxy, but the SNES version had them replaced with a couple of skinny male punks named Billy and Sid.

I see. Well I figured the SNES port was inferior so never bothered.
I take it I can download the arcade version on one of the console stores like Virtual Console or PSN.

Speaking of which, there was a port of the game released on the Sega CD that comes close to being just like the arcade version with only a few small changes as well as some new levels and cutscenes with voice-acting.

Oh!
A shame really. I had a Sega CDX in my posession at one point. I recently sold it XD

Ah, okay. Well, in that case, I think you'll be fine playing the digital version that's played in "Final Fight: Double Impact" on the PlayStation Network and/or Xbox Live Arcade, which also includes a port of the Capcom arcade game "Magic Sword" (though I think a more suitable game that could have been included would be "Knights Of The Round").

Savage and not messing around describes Rolento very well.
He's hellbent on seeing his military utopia take shape.

Always preferred Mine Sweeper over this, but Take No Prisoners sure had the better animation ^^

shinragod In reply to LukeTheRipper [2017-07-03 22:07:06 +0000 UTC]

Minesweeper did indeed do the most damage.
But you really do gotta give Capcom props for coming up with such an awesomely animated Super. :3

LukeTheRipper In reply to shinragod [2017-07-04 12:33:26 +0000 UTC]

It's not even the damage, but the utility. It's one of the best defensive supers, and could easily catch any rushing opponent.

But yes, I did acknowledge this one has the better animation, ne ^^
It was certainly one of the more amusing supers in the series ^^

Didn't take long for us SF fans to figure out where Rolento...along with Cody, Guy, Sodom, Hugo and Maki came from. ;D
