Description
The Duet is the Geist of my Sin-Eater, Brice Theodoric, for the Ropeplaying game "Geist: The Sin-Eaters" from White Wolf. She's...not exactly a ghost, or a spirit...Brice isn't sure what she is (or even if she's one thing or two), but the Duet whispers into his ears, urging him to 'kill the bad people'.

Brice, being a (horrible) actor just wants to have a career and all that, but every now and then he comes to an agreement with this little death-goddess and makes the world a safer place...by basically being a supernatural vigilante killer guy.

As for her story...well, she was an aspiring young stage performer in the 1920s San Francisco, who worked mostly as magician’s assistant. She had a locket (now her Keystone) was given to her by the magician she worked for when they became lovers, ignoring the man’s many flaws (and other girlfriends), including freely associating with smugglers. The assistant knew that they sought advice from her lover for better smuggling methods, but fooled herself into thinking that it was for a noble cause against prohibition, and that her lover was still a good man despite his occasional drunken rage. It was when she learned that he was assisting with human trafficking that she felt like she had to do something.

She tipped of the police and had the smugglers arrested while they were away in New York for a show. When she told her lover what happened, he went into a rage and attacked her with one of the saws used during their show, splitting her head in half.

In death, her wound grew to disfigure both her corpus as she became literally split over her decision to turn her lover’s friends in, but her two halves became united (in purpose only) when she realized what a total jerk he truly was. She adopted an archetype of vengeance, against the ‘bad people’ like her lover and his friends, and thus became a Geist.
