Description
Phew, I've been working on this species guide (not only this image, but a few other as well) for over a week and I'm not even done yet.
After I've finished first part of unidrak guide I realized I'm not really happy with the way it looks. I wanted it to be less... formal, I guess? But I ended up doing all those boxes and font text. So this time around I tried to make the guide look like a lesson written on a blackboard. Other parts of the guide look similarly to this one and I think this style fits the Dragon Academy theme much better. I want this group and the arpg elements to be more od a fun community thing than an attempt to make a super professional game. x'D
Say hello to GEARCO - prime race, native species of Sakhengell. Gearco have the nature of fighters. They love duels of all kind and they don't mind getting hurt as long as they can prove their strength and skills to others. Proud, independant and reckless, they symbolize fighting spirit and endless strive for self-improvement.
Gearco possess two unique inner magic abilities (inner magic comes from the spirit of its user and it's specific to a species and its type/subtype)
1. 'retractable', enchanted claws/nails - claws/nails which can grow/change shape (final shape differs depending on gearco type)
2. soul-bond - an ability which let gearco transfer small part of their soul into one item, animal spirit or magic element. Those so called "bondlings" stay with gearco for the rest of their life. Even item bondlings are sentient and can be capricious, so it may take months or even years of training to perfect the bond between gearco and their bondling.
Before palaces created by unidraks became community centers of Sakhengell, gearco used to stay away from other prime races and live in self-made huts, sometimes creating very small forest/mountain villages. At first, they weren't eager to join palace communities, but benefits, that come form living in multi-species areas made them slowly change their mind. Some of them still prefer living in the wild, but more gearco are joining the palaces every day. They however have to go through the Palace Rules Course before they can get full rights to live and work in palaces. And the very first rule they need to learn is - NO STREET FIGHTS!
Fun facts:
~"gearco" is a combination of words "gear" (in this case meaning 'equipment') and "draco" (there's also a "gecko" hidden somewhere in the middle)
-I've been trying to give this species a nice look for more than 4 years! The idea behind gearco is my personal fav out of all Drakonian species, but I had a hard time designing them. You can see my old, terrible sketches here:
-despite its 4-years long history, gearco species remained unnamed till 24 July 2017
- just like impling types are based on various mythological animals, gearco are based on mythological humanoids
-gearco nad implings are 'natural companions' to each other. First gearco type I've designed is based on imps, hence the name "implings" for their petit companions.
-[ITEM] Golden Scale - if someone paid attention to this item's description, they already know this species name xD
