She (its a lady) is my brainchild, but she has influence from various other sources, like Warhammer 40k (Tyranids) and shadowhearts.

I think you've found a way to streamline the process of creating frames of animation in a 2D character, forgoing the use of creating extensive spritesheets for basic animation cycles.

This would save a lot of time in the development of a 2D platformer.

Well done, sir. This is fine piece of work and an outstanding accomplishment.

I only have one gripe and that is with the animation itself. His (if it's even a 'he') left limbs appear to drag backward a bit awkwardly, not quite matching the smoothness of the right-side limbs moving in the foreground.

I do however, love those teeth.

Wow. A a hobbyist game maker and program developer, I could get some real good use out of that program of yours. Then again, I suppose I could code one myself, if I just sat down and did it...

Nice animation by the way. The right leg seems to linger behind a bit far, while the left leg seems to stay on the ground for a shorter amount of time. In effect, almost like its limping. Well thats my critique.

I've got to know when you are going to release that program.

WAIT WAIT WAIT! HOLD ON! thats amazing! most rotational animmation i see looks crappy, like they didnt bother to really animate it. but this is so well done, so smooth, so flowing! its a master piece! and you made the animator yourself?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shoba In reply to kacchapa [2006-03-09 13:08:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I created an Animating tool with Gamemaker. Sadly its to unoptimized to draw those animations in Real time, but I suppose I can change the tool to render animations.

shoba In reply to kacchapa [2006-03-10 15:00:35 +0000 UTC]

Like most tools it suffers from the "most common user" Syndrom. Sadly most users on the GMC (not everyone, but a big Percentage) are 12 year old wanabe game developers which want to create an MMORPG like WOW or Halo. The Game Maker is pretty advanced, if you can handle the interlal Script Language, without it its just something like click and play.

hehe, i see. but i guess kids have to start somewhere. it seems like a good thing in that as they grow in their ability to create games this program would unfold more and more. as for me, i perfer to stick to the graphics, which is fine because my younger brother is a wiz at programming. currently we're using a library called allegro, have you heard of it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shoba In reply to kacchapa [2006-03-11 01:33:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I used to work with allegro some years ago, but the lack of time forced me to use the Gamemaker.

Yeah, I played Shadow of the Colossus. Maybe she might be a little bit to small. But on the other hand, there where small Colossi in the game as well.
