Description *edit* I took a pic of it. This isn't exactly a crappy pic. This turned out way better than I thought. I also did some photoshoppin' BI

I put it in fantasy because I made some of the creatures up.

I've been working on this for a whole month Working mostly off OTL;;;

But I'm really happy how this came out. I'm trying to expand my variety instead of drawing animu all the time. So I did this to kick it off. Oh, don't mind the crappy scan. I asked a friend to scan it and her's was old so it killed some colours +__+; The colours looks way better in real life.

ONTO THE PICTURE!
So like, one day during french class I was bored as hell. I wanted to draw a dragon while trying perspective. FAIL. I got this instead. And thus it became this awesome pic. Everyone fell in love with the turtle I wasn't even thinking about adding detail to the thing xD. I guess I fell in love with the little guy I'm guessing the little guy is ready for mating nao <3

Tools: Copic markers, .05 liner and a white jelly roll

I will always, and forever, envy copic marker artists of their skills. I have copic markers but when I try to use them it looks like a little kid scribbling in a coloring book. ;-;

Anyway, off to the critique. The first thing I notice it the general lack of shading. It looks like it all just blends together with no shading.

Second, volcanic eruptions do not look like that underwater. Sorry. This is what they look like: [link]

The detail you put into this is amazing. Well, except for the lack of detail on the sea creatures in the background, like the fish, who are see-through. IGNORE THE FISH. THEY ARE SEE-THROUGH, AND THEREFORE UNIMPORTANT. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/l/lโ€ฆ " width="19" height="19" alt="" title="La la la la"/>

Lol I never drew smoke so yeah xD; It pissed me off to no end, so I drew it like that. Also, that was back then where I had to line art everything so the fishies are transparent but the ides of transparent fishies are awesome Thanks for the critiques!

Dang that's colorful! It almost makes me feel nostalgic. I like the idea of an underwater volcano eruption. Cool!
Did you let the layers dry between colours?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

shocka123 In reply to Jo-san [2012-01-13 22:32:48 +0000 UTC]

It depends. I like keeping them wet when I do humans and animals or smooth shiny surfaces because they blend best while wet. and the drying was by accident when I got too distracted whilst colouring. xD; But I do sometimes when I want a harder shading on my drawings.

Ah, okay. CX
This looks so vivid. I'm still learning to use my markers.

Haha I now the feeling too. It's good to just scribble around on a scrap piece of paper and you'll find your style when using your markers.

Nice work! ^^ & if you want to fix the colors, sometimes it helps to pop it into Photoshop or Gimp and up the contrast a bit. (:

This is amazing If you don't mind me asking, what kind of paper do you use?

shocka123 In reply to NikkiMoon [2011-05-05 00:28:07 +0000 UTC]

I use Aquabee paper. I find if you layer it too much it'll leave a grainy look @A@;;; I'm trying to find a better one though. Do you know any paper?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

NikkiMoon In reply to shocka123 [2011-05-05 01:07:41 +0000 UTC]

Well, I've heard of a paper that's only for Copics, but I don't really know where to get it here in NY besides online. It's this: [link]

oh that. It's a bit pricey so I don't think that'll be great.

NikkiMoon In reply to shocka123 [2011-05-06 00:11:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. I've seen some more kinds of paper in youtube videos, I guess you kind of have to lurk around a bit to see what people use. I've been looking around for the best kind of paper myself. I just don't know where to get them though, Here in NY the art stores hide from you >:C Lol ^^

Canada isn't a good place to find paper. :C

NikkiMoon In reply to shocka123 [2011-05-06 00:27:48 +0000 UTC]

Canada huh? :C I may live in America but I feel your pain. If there are a lot of art stores here in NYC, they must be hiding from me because I do not know where I can get paper and stuff. I have to keep looking on the internet and begging my parents to order it. That's how I got my Copics xD

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

shocka123 In reply to NikkiMoon [2011-05-06 00:30:43 +0000 UTC]

You can search them up you know รดwo. Canada is a dense population so thats why we don't get a lot. Nut since I live in Ontario It's better.
