Ah man, I would kill to watch you draw some of these. This style is wonderful, I like how it's stylized, but still captures so much realism. Did you reference from photos, or just kind of make them up as you went?

Sort of both- Using photos as a jumping off point to understand the intersection of forms, that sort of thing, and then diving into drawing my own.

I used to have white tails all over my backyard. They were so pretty, I remember I loved the white underside of their tails. You could always see it when they ran.
Nice picture here, I myself need to start studying up on deer and horse alike. I really haven't ever tried seriously drawing them, but my friend tells me their an important thing to know how to draw when you go to an animation college. For some reason, he said, your boss will love you if you can draw horses. So if that's your plan, you're doing damn well now.

Those are some amazing sketches! My favorite would have to be the bottem left corner one as well (perhaps it's the slightly-turned head). Nearly flawless work, I'd say. The only one I don't particuarly like would be the one in the center, who's ears look a but too small and head a bit too large compared to the others.
Still, excellent work, especially on the muzzles. And unique enough not to be Bambi-esque. Brownie points for that.
