Alona flipped through the show catalogue. "Number 23 annnndddd," her finger followed down the paper until she reached Star's name. "Ah! There it is, number 25 as well!" She placed the catalogue on back on the table as the steward fingered through arm bands, he cheerily handed them to her once found and with a smile responded. "Good luck!"
Alona waved in thanks as she walked back to her crates. Although the Mini's belonged to Launa, the younger girl couldn't make it to the New York show. Oh yes, the joys of being young. Alona smiled as she reached in the kennel to pull out Star, she actually took a liking to the breed. Although a little too velcro compared to what she's used to in a dog, the Mini's made for great road companions. She looked down at the red bitch, compared to Canaan dogs the Miniature American Shepherds had so much enthusiasm.
It was about four years ago when Launa had approached Alona about her interest in showing dogs. At the time Launa was a freshman at the University of Miami she had appeared in Alona's office one morning before classes and expressed an interest in learning more about showing and breeding dogs. She wasn't sure what charmed the girl but ever since Launa has been an honorary member of the Gadot family. After months of searching Launa had found her dream dog, a black bi-color bitch she named Metal. It was only a few months after Launa was offered Metal's mother, Star.
Despite being a veteran, was yet to finish her championship. While living with Launa she already earned herding titles as well as dabbled in some new sports. Once the red-tri finishes she will be retired and live a happy life with all her sheep and cows. Alona began to walk ringside with the bitch in her arms, unfortunately if she were to win today Launa wouldn't be present to see the dog finish. "Guess we will have to get a win photo girlie!" Alona said under her breath as she glanced down at the little red dog.
She didn't mind the Miniature American Shepherd, but nothing beats a Canaan dog.
