Description
Nami Kozou is a Japanese Yokai monster folklore in West of Shizuoka Prefecture.
During Nara era, a monk called Gyouki created two straw dolls to pray for his sick mother's good health then made them work on rice field.
After the dolls finished planting rice on the field, Gyouki read sutra for the dolls and told them to alert people if any natural disaster is about to come. Then Gyouki threw them into a river.
One of the dolls reached to the sea and caught in a fishing net. The doll begged a fisherman for its life and promised to alert the change of weather by wave sound. Since then, The Sea of Enshu is well-known for its wave sound. Fishermen can predict weather by its sound.
