Description My collab quest with the amazing for ! So excited to finally get this posted for you guys!

It was, unfortunately, not a Bucky Barnes dream. No, Sebastian Stan was not smiling that crooked smile at her, nor gazing at her with those eyes, the color of summer stormclouds. He wasn't there to take her hand through the expo, to show her Howard Stark's new technology or introduce her to his best friend, Steve Rogers. "Steve, I want you to meet my girl Elanor..."

No. The gleaming room was massive, crystalline in design and aesthetic, and very, very beautiful. Here in the dream, where she wasn't so afraid of the outside world and everyone in it, Elanor was curious. She reached out to touch the shining architecture, but stopped and regarded her own arm, followed by the other. Each forearm was graced with a thick leather bracer, blue with gold accents and white, curving shapes. Her eyes went down to the white bodice, the view of which was partially obscured by a blue bow that was centered with a brooch, were gleaming gold pyrite met her gaze. She lifted her feet to examine her new boots, and nervously felt around the pleated mini-skirt. No one was there to look up her skirt, she hoped.

It sure felt real though. The fabric was smooth and soft to the touch. Her boots clicked on the clear floor. The fit of the whole outfit was eerily perfect. She found small pyrite gems stuck to one arm, and gave one a tug, followed by a hard pull when it didn't come off.

"Ow! What the..." Elanor's thoughts trailed off into silence. "What...?"

It hurt. It hurt in the dream. But things don't hurt in dreams, right? Right? So that meant...it wasn't...a dream.

It wasn't a dream. In a second Elanor's heart began to pound, every muscle tensed to the point where it would start to hurt, and her breathing became frantic and panicked. It was not a dream. She was not at home, in her apartment. She was not in a place she knew, so therefore it was not safe. There was nothing there. Virtually nothing at all.

Not safe. Not safe. Not safe. NOT SAFE. NOT SAFE.

Her fight or flight instinct kicked in, and as always, flight won. Elanor began to move, going to the nearest wall and and pushing, as if a door would open up. Desperately she felt along the nearest wall, trying to find a separation that would indicate an exit.

Get out get out get out getoutgetoutgetout GET OUT NOT SAFE GET OUT. Chances are she was probably saying such words to herself aloud, but she could not hear her voice over the fear in her mind. Virtually scrambling across the wall, she almost missed the gentle pink reflected off the glass-like crystal. Pink, a bit of white, a bit of bright orange-red that was a Weasley calling card. Freezing, she turned slowly, fearfully, expecting the worst despite having no idea who was there.

The young woman smiled. Skin speckled with freckles, a round, plus-size body, and bows adorning her feet and wrists. Truthfully, if Elanor had more of her wits about her, she'd have noted that despite the color differences, they were wearing matching dresses. The other woman's was pink, trimmed with dark earth tones swirled with white.

"Finally! I thought I'd be walking for days back there!" By her accent, she was defintely from the southern states. "Boy am I glad to see a friendly face." She offered a hand out. "Name's Anne Marie, it's a pleasure!"

It was safe to say that Elanor had not shaken hands with anyone in years, long enough that she had to seriously think about how to do it, and that was the least of her problems. Her jaw was locked, and all she could manage was a whimper.

"You all right there darlin'?" Anne Marie asked, concerned.

Elanor shook her head.

Anne Marie's hands came down on the blue sailor collar covering Elanor's shoulders and smiled. "You know I think I own dinner plates bigger than your eyes. You got a name, sugar?"

It took a bit a few moments on Elanor's part to process it all, mostly because she was thinking that she must have really been staring to get a dinner plate comparison. She felt like she had been thinking too long, but the red-head before her was waiting patiently.

"Uh...um...potoo...I mean!" Almost immediately her face began to burn, and she clapped her hands over her mouth. She had no idea where it came from or why a South American bird had suddenly come to mind, and she was sure the newcomer assumed Elanor was out of her mind.

"I beg your pardon?"

"I-i-it's a meme! I mean, it's a bird. A picture of a bird. And...and...the eyes are..." Squeezing her eyes shut, she scrubbed at her face. "That's not the point and I don't know where I am or what happened and this has suddenly turned into at least the third worst thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life, and I want to go home because I know it's safe there and things make sense there and it's completely opposite of where I am, which by the way did I said I don't know where this is, and I don't know you and I'm really not good with people and--"

"Hold your horses there," Anne Marie said, locking eyes with Elanor until the blue-haired girl had caught her breath. "Now first off all, I had to interrupt you because if I didn't you'd be passed out on the floor, and that won't help either of us."

Elanor blinked, and barely nodded.

"Now second of all," Anne Marie said, holding up two fingers. "I'm in the same boat as you, and we'll get a lot further upstream if we work together, right? I don't know where I am, or why we're in this place, but all things considered, having company is a good thing."

Swallowing, Elanor nodded. "Yeah...you're right. You're right. I'm sorry, I just...I'm..." fumbling for words again, she looked up to find her new companion smiling warmly.

"You got a name, sugar?" she repeated.

Rubbing her right hand on the glove of her left forearm, Elanor hesitated in answering, hoping the right word would come out. "Um...Elanor."

"Well it's certainly a pleasure, Elanor. Name's Ann Marie Harlow!" The happy greeting was followed by a vigorous handshake that Elanor was not prepared for, strong enough to make her stumble a little. "Now, I reckon if we keep walking, we'll find signs of life somewhere. Let's go for a stroll and see what we find."

Elanor found herself hesitating, a bit winded as the adrenaline rush wound down. "What if we don't like what we find?"

"Well if someone needs their kiester kicked, I'll be happy to oblige 'em," Ann Marie replied, lifting one arm in a classic muscle flexing move.

Truth be told, for Elanor it was easy to imagine Bucky Barnes having the same philosophy, just without the southern charm. Twisting her hands together, she quickly fell in step with Ann Marie.

Aaaaah, I'm so happy with this!!

I was so glad to snag Kos for this. Potoo and Piggie are going to make an interesting pair. I'm super looking forward to their interactions!

For the collab part, I drew the image and did the lineart. Kos did the coloring and wrote the short story for their meeting! V exciting stuff I haven't collabed in a long time, and I'm really happy with how our styles meshed! I adore how she colored the hair and did piggie's freckles. So cute

Pose reference is from a 90's anime screenshot. Which I can't find. But I have a coloring book for!

Thanks again to the wonderful KOSMOS-ver3 !
