The -ette/Princess fad came to be when a crown item was introduced in one of the new Mario games that made Toadette look like Peach. Then someone did a comic of Bowser putting it on and curing both his and Mario's loneliness, since he saves her all the time for little more than a cake anyway, and he figures he'll just take the next best Princess Peach lookalike. 'specially cause she thicc. Then THAT became a thing, and from there, it started branching off to other enemies from the games.
Anyway, cute Shy Princess.

This is the very first appearance of Bowsette.
The concept came from the trailer of New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe from the September 2018 Nintendo Direct, where Toadette used the Super Crown to turn into Peachette. So this guyΒ decided to make a comic where Bowser used the crown, hence becoming Bowsette. The internet exploded with this character ever since.
