I like the symbolism here - the snake, obviously, but most of all how Snape is white clad in black, and Dumbledore is black clad in white!

Yes, the snake was intended to tell an extra story. It always struck me as kind of ironic that Snape gets killed by the mascot of Slytherin House. I had been using that snake in decorations before, so it seemed appropriate as well as telling here.

Snape is perfect, indeed, gorgeous outfit, and the expression is so well done! I like the idea of a Dumbledore in black silhouette, but possibly I would have added a bit more movement in his body (even if it was to suggest stiffness).
Anyway, this is going to Mrs JK in person, isn't it? I imagine you must be excited...

Truth to tell, I completely lost it! I was so nervous that I couldn't get anything right... It was terrible. I thought I would have to resign my chapter in the end.
Then I got this idea, two days before the deadline
You are right about the movement, my darling, but I'm not as good an artist as you! I already made a great improvement (I think) to the original design by showing Dumbledore in profile instead of full frontal. But, as you know, everybody always looks stiff in my pictures
I think Snape's outfit is FAR too showy to be anything near probable, but I thought I could allow myself some poetic licence

I don't believe your characters are stiff. You don't usually draw them dancing, moreover some of the HP characters you draw more often (Snape, DD, McGonagall) are supposed to be rather rigid in their posture. Natural grace is a prerogative of only few humans, in real life
Snape's cloack is obviously symbolic. I never thought for an instant that he was actually wearing something with a snake on it

There is something fitting about the graphic "photo negative" look, both of these characters are light and dark.
