I started out with the idea that she was maybe a dark elf that has been using a spell to appear like a high elf and it was fading away... but since I took my first biology course in college I've been somewhat enamored with chimerism. So the idea that she's one organism with two expressed sets of unique DNA was really cool and I ended up running with that idea.
