Description
I thought I would start posting the cakes I make since it's a hobby on the side for me. I know I'm not the best but I love making them and learning new things along the way.Everything on this cake is edible including the goggles I made.
I made it for my boyfriend's 23rd bday as a surprise because he loves steampunk like I do. I didn't get a picture of the inside but it's a chocolate and vanilla checkerboard pattern like this: [link]

actually no, I'm not that talented haha. I just used a paintbrush. It gave it a more weathered look and the wood a wood texture compared to the flat finish an airbrush would make I'm assuming.
And honestly, all it takes is practice.. this was my first time using gumpaste, and my fondant skills are a little lacking, so I just keep making cakes for everything to practice. If you practice you will be amazing one day!

your first time with gumpaste?! Really? I must be very proud, I have been praticing for around one year and I'm not sure if I could do something like this. I haven't tryed to use a paintbrush, just tradicinal gumpaste colloring. I will try someday ^^

thanks! Funny story, the goggles were actually shaped using the bottom of a pop can. It made the perfect goggle mold. Then I just painted on it with watered down food dye
looks impressive, but really isn't when you know the background of it haha
