Second shot in my series from Cardiff. This was the view out of our appartment over looking the River Taff.This is my first attempt at night photography, and I realise it is slightly grainy in places, but any comments or feedback would be really appreciated

This is a great job for a first attempt at night photography. I am of the opinion that a slight graininess to a piece does not always detract from it; in fact it can add a nice sultry feel to the work. This is really used to great effect in your sky and in how it looks over the cityscape. The texture makes it almost look like velvet, especially in relation to the black water underneath.
Your lights are good, with the highlights not being too burned out and yet you have managed to capture enough light to show the details on the buildings. Your framing of the shot works well. The tall white building on the side is offset by the horizontal darker space on the right. However, due to the illusion of the second building behind the white one, this shot does not appear to be perfectly level to my eyes. Not sure what you can do about that.
Also, I'd perhaps suggest sharpening it up a bit? The details on the white building have a slight blur to them, this again could be just how dA is displaying the shot.

I see what you mean about the levelness. As I was looking at it, I did think, 'hang on, this doesn't look straight!' I'll have a think about it and see if there's anything I can come up with that might overcome that.
Again, I agree about the sharpening, I'll definitely be going back to and have another look at it

You're more than welcome. Like I said, it could just be an optical illusion. I know that can sometimes happen when there are multiple verticals in a shot which are close together.

Excellent work...I don't think the high ISO has given it too much grain and you have picked up all the illuminated details very nicely.
I think it is a wonderful nighttime scene.

I think you've had a bit of a job on your hands with the light; what with the night sky (incl cloud), modern night-lit appartment on the left and the traditionally lit housing on the right..and come up trumps!
