Description Yeah, I went there....

Rainbow Dash drawn on A4 gold metalic card with prismacolor pencils and white acrylic paint. About 7 hours.

I used a statue of a horse as a reference for this, not a photo of one which is why the muscles are shaded so sharply. Also had to make up the wings, so please excuse my disgraceful anatomy.

I challenge anyone to color a picture of her and not enjoy it. Having a rainbow palette to use is awesome

I'm aware of several mistakes and things I could have done better/differently, but feel free to point some things out if you notice them. It might be something I missed.

this looks really cool. RD FTW! i was thinking about getting prismacolours. but are they much different to other colour pencils such as Faber Castell and Crayola? If you wouldn't mind telling me.

Yes. Faber Castell are my second favourite brand of pencils, because of the great colours they come in, but they dont blend very well. I find that prismacolors, because they are so soft, blend very easily and are very vibrant as well. the colors are rich, and the black is actually black, not dark grey like most brands.

Having said that I think you still need at least a pack of 24 shades/colors of any brand to be able to draw something with any real depth. Prismacolors are expensive, but at least you can buy them individually to replace the ones you use most, not have to buy a whole new set.

ok thanks. i know they ar very expensive. Maybe one day when I'm rich i will get some! haha. But for now I will just use my 500 or so odd Faber Castells. By the way, your art is absoloutely amazing and you should be prous of it. Do you make money from anything you do?

Not from most of it, but I do have commissions open. Most of my artwork is just for fun.

anyone who can do fan art like this is a true fan and is a wonderful contribution and a refreshing sight in an otherwise normally criticised and beaten up demographic.

I applaud your skill, and your attitude towards the drawing, the colours and the work itself.

Thanks very much
I dont actually watch the show, but I figured a lot of other people do, and Rainbow Dash seems to be the most recognised character, so rather than put a regular pegasus in my gallery I might as well do one people will enjoy.

well it's a nice sight, and it's a great idea. I like it when people push the boundaries of the 'expected' mediums and genres that fan art tends to take form of.

Even if you aren't a fan you can still contribute and lighten up the stigma that haunts most of us.
