In case you don't know what the MArshall Plan is: After WW2, Europe was in tatters and America wanted to help non-Soviet Europe as to make communism look bad so they sent 12.5 billion dollars on sending food to Europe in 1948. The pla was a success btw, Europe's economy started rising because of this plan and communisms popularity went down.Since most of this isn't legible:
*In total, Britain got over 2,826 million in food
*France was 2nd with 2,445 million
*Italy was in 3rd place with 1,316 million
*West Germany recived 1,297 putting them in 4th
*Holland got 877 million, ranking him at 5th
*Austria got 561 million, in 6th place

Ugh I know right. I love world history because the whole class is one big Hetalia episode XD But then people look at me wierd everytime I scream when US and UK's 'special relations' is brought up
So, a little more detail on why we gave more to the UK is because their capital was bombed to smitherines by the Germans, their economy was trash because they'd spent every last cent on weapons, the military and the war effort, so they had very little left for food. They also did the most to stop Hitler, thus they got the most special treatment. Oh, and during the war German U-Boats surrounded their island as to prevent them from importing food. So all in all ENGLAND was really in the worst shape after the war. Plus, ya know, they're our buddies so they got more bro bucks XD

Our economy has gotten close to what it was during the great depression, I believe the unemployment rate is 11%, and our school system is out of money. Pretty soon, me and my class mates will be sitting on the floor, and taking our notes on paper taken from the recycling bin. We've got 40+ students per teacher, even in my honors classes which are supposedly smaller class sizes. And the students in the school next door are already sitting on the floor from lack of money to buy any chairs, and our school district is thinking of cutting art classes! D; Not to mention that they've pretty much cut our school year in half and layed off dozens of teachers, including my German teacher TT.TT
Ok, sorry I'm mostly bitching about the crappy school conditions, but this kind off explains why everyone thinks Americans are stupid :/ Thankfully I kinda saw this coming, so I use my summers studying and crap so I can at least get into a good college.
