Description A traditional drawing depicting five main characters I had made up in the past ten years and were particularly prominent in my imagination. While I did this, I have learned that I seriously need to work on my skills with colored pencils and anatomy. The original image looks a lot better and is proof that I need a scanner. I don't think this is too bad, but still...

From left to right:

1: Ethalias Quicktail

She was my first OC character created for the Redwall universe. She is a young marten who is a mercenary of sorts within Mossflower Country and leads a small band of like-minded mercenaries. She doesn't really give a damn about good or evil, she only works for those who have the most money or provide the most benefit to her. She owns a crossbow of which she is very skilled with.

2: Flitsky

The Gordon Freeman look-alike who lives in a world populated by humans and anthro weasels. Like Freeman, he is a scientist who survived an experiment gone wrong. Unlike Freeman, he never shuts up about himself and his intellectual superiority. Flitsky is the first ferret to work in the research facility which is dominated by humans and likes to make snarky remarks about he is the only one there and how everyone treats him. He is quite psychotic but efficient at killing alien creatures that attacked his workplace and the bag of mind-altering substances he lost in his locker.

3: Dernwyn Polye

The Emperor of a vast and mighty empire of mustelids three hundred years before Flitsky was born. He and his people waged war against the human race who encroached upon their territories and committed genocide against them. He is young but a competent ruler and commander. He is also a bit prone to emotional outbursts that could (and had) resulted in severe consequences that could have been avoided. Dernwyn is a skillful swordsman and is proficient with his gun-knife, which became somewhat of a symbol for him.

4: Arian

Another pine marten who lives on a world orbiting twin suns. There, his people of furs fought a war with humanity (who existed there for some reason) who enslaved them. The furs won and continually hunt humans across the vast deserts created by the war. Arian lived many years post-war and had a happy young life until his family was arrested and executed for treason.

Arian himself was not killed but rather thrown into the desert to die. He did survived and found himself hellbent on revenge. He helped the remaining human groups and gained their trust after he was disillusioned by his very religious upbringing. He sees his fellow furs as no different than the humans who once enslaved them.

5: Jonathan Thatcher

A veteran of the Gulf War, Thatcher is a human-turned-beast who was unwillingly experimented on by a powerful pharmaceutical company and was transformed into an anthropomorphic marten to help combat a terrible disease. He broke out of the facility and is now wandering the world, hiding away from a world going mad. There were hundreds of other "Test subjects" like him and he sought them, even if he has to kill them, to figure out how to change back. However, his animal instincts make it very difficult for him to control himself and his hunger.

Wow! I wrote a fanfic about a pine marten named Dernwyn! I thought I had made the name up (it was inspired by the names "Eowyn" and "Dernhelm", because my character's story was somewhat similar to the LotR character - or at least they were similar in their stories beginnings, anyway ), but apparently great minds think alike. But not only that, but my Dernwyn also had blue eyes just like yours'.

Only my Dernwyn was 11-14 seasons old in the fic, a fearful weakling of a spoilt prince who gets pushed around a lot, but at least he ends up growing up and starts fighting back. Your Dernwyn looks pretty cool, though.

That is a strange coincidence! I haven't read too many Redwall fanfics and I don't think I have read yours. I may have to get around and read it sometime. I am not sure how I came up with the name, but I think it was inspired by the word "Dyrnwyn", which is a Welsh sword of legend. I just liked the name when I came across it and I just changed the one letter from "y" to "e" to make it easier for me read.

My Dernwyn may have had easy beginnings, but he unfortunately started to lose his sanity because of the stresses of his job and war. He is a hell of a fighter, though. The only thing I need to do is to actually write down the story about him and put it out there.

Thanks for compliment and I am still surprised about the similarities between our two characters.

I have some chapters of my fanfic uploaded onto here, though the entire fic is on fanfiction.net. Yeah, I've heard of "Dyrnwyn", I read about it in the Prydain book series.

Actually, even though my Dernwyn for the most part is just a regular teenager, I was thinking about doing a sequel where he ends up becoming a great warrior (albeit slightly pyschotic ).

But that does sound pretty cool, a fic about your own Dernwyn! Sounds like it'll be a great read!

Your welcome, and heh, yeah, amazing how things like that happen in life.
