I'm not to sure if that spelling is right.anyways i did this this year and I'm really proud of it
materials: chalk, pastel,charcol,and cante (some french thing)

yeah they're pretty hard but i leanred that chalk and cahrol together are great, especially white chalk, you could fix a mistake with it. The trick is to keep working on it, and it's best to use dark paper. But I agree they are hard to work with, i think it took me about three weeks just to do this one.

why in digital art if you did it by hand? It's a beautiful rendering with very delicate treatment of the surfaces. Not quite realistic, but it doesn't need to be to be poignant

oh it's there because I had taken a picture of it and it need some fixing since the camera was cheap (heh heh a lot actually)
since they changed the categories I've been trying to get them down properly but they'll just change again anyways.

ahh... understood. I have that prob with scans. I think if you just fixed the problems the camera created, not really adding anything digitally, it should still be in traditional art-drawing. Doesn't matter to me, of course, but the admins might get after it

hmm yeah they did that to a friend of mine but they never cracked down on me as of yet but yes if they told me it was wrong I'd move it. There are just to many ways you can submit stuff!

beautiful drawing. its got so much going for it... you can tell that this old woman has quite a story to tell. you've captured so much detail but in a soft stylistic way. and its conte not cante.

lol thanks for the spelling corretion I'll try to remeber that! In my referance the woman was a bit younger then the way this one turned out but i kept it the same because of the effect it gave, I'm so glad you noticed it!
