she sounds kinda like frodo from lotr!!...so did u write this with symbolism in mind? plz explain that in ur artists comments if there are any readings or symbolism to this~personally i think what you wrote here of her being both light and darkness symbolises 'every person' ~ humans with their virtues and vices, personify both the light and darkness.
as the girl emerges from behind the door at the call of the dark side~she is no more a child~signifying the loss of innocence. theologically, the halo that you mentioned around her head is something that is often attributed to saints and deities~hence signifying that inspite of loosing her innocence, she is still pure in body and soul~a virgin perhaps(virgins are often associated with purity/angels in biblical texts/references)
lastly-the journey she is about to undertake is perhaps symbolic of the journey of life, at one point of which one has to make a crucial choice, weather to walk in the light/live honestly or to take the easy but wrong way out. in this case perhaps that turning point is signified by the stone that 'brought the light to the dark realm'. if she hands the stone over~she may forever walk in the wrong path but if she keeps it she can changer her life with it~
this reminds me of William Blake~according to blake there are (roughly simplified) 3 basic stages in a person's life - INNOCENCE, EXPERIENCE and HIGHER INNOCENCE.
INNOCENCE is the phase of childhood, when the person cannot fully comprehend the world around him and in his ignorance, he is pure. Blake thought of this phase being close to GOD
EXPERIENCE - is the phase where a person gains the knowledge of the world around him and falls into vices, thus loosing his innocence and becomes fallen. Blake thought of this phase as going further away from GOD.
HIGHER INNOCENCE - is the phase when the person through his own experience and trials of life, finds the fruits of a corrupted world futile and joyless. he then turns to an interpretation of the divine in every one of his endeavours. Through this willful penance, he attains the stage of what Blake called higher innocence, where an individual willingly discards his vices and strives to be pure again. he has experienced the vices and conquered them~Blake thought of this stage as being the closest to GOD.
Hope I was able to give you some direction in your work! ...carry on~i will take a look at the other chapters too.
