My new Crossbow...

Okay first of all the orange tips on the bow is now painted black!! So don´t mention them... I know I should have waited with til picture until after... but I didn´t... DAMN

The facts
Its made of Pine "stained" first nut brown and secondly mahonia bown (redish).

The "butt" of the crossbow I was covered in a soft 3mm leather tightly wrapped around, with a colored edge and my swirly S logo cut and dyed on.

The mechanism itself is made by a mixture of aluminum, hardend steel and spring steel, the trigger was meant to be another shape and another length but I didn´t the the right materials at hand... so I´m gonna fix that later, it had to be ready now.
The sides of the trigger house is plated with a thin zink carving, both for looks and to cover the fitting of the mechanism.
And on top there is a bolt lock to keep the bolt in place

I fitted a steel ring on the butt and a buckle on the front so a shoulder strap could be fitted
I made the strap and cut another logo as well.

The string I made from nylon (for strength) with a leather reinforcement on the middle of the string.

The bow is a store bought childrens bow, cut down to size, and fittet in the nose of the body

All in all I´m fairly satisfied, the mechanism has a nice snapping sound to it... it works perfectly... and I like the look. ouh and it shoots very far!

thanks

I´m really not... but I´m gonna do it anyways so you get to see it in action!

Well I kinda cheated... I took 2 years of the carpenter education and 2 years of the tool-maker (metal) education.

well don't feel obligated. i don't to get you into trouble... unless of course you can run fast then let's do it. lol.

that's still more training than me. i only have one semester of training for each. and that was back in high school. still, i'm just getting started into leather works myself. i'm saving up to get my first starter kit atm.

Well I kinda want to XD

cool, but you don't always need to start out with 20 different tools actully I think it's a good thing to start with a few tools and get to know them.
