Yeah, I'm pretty detail oriented in my work and it requires a lot of patience, even more so in my colored pencil drawings than paintings. I tried to do most of my paintings fairly quickly, because I wanted to be able to price them in a range where I thought I might actually sell them.

I guess if your main subject is the chipmunk, you could spend less time on the background.

Yeah, it really probably didn't take as long as one might expect to do all those trees in the background, though it probably did take longer to do them than the chipmunk... I think the whole painting probably took 10-12 hours, so that wasn't too bad I guess.

I painted this from a picture I took when I was in Yellowstone, and I just called it that because I thought it looked kind of like he was standing up on a podium up above the forest and it was the first thing that came to mind, haha.
