I think just grabbing two sets and bashing them into one thing is a great way to train moccing skills in a really fun way so I lvoe seeing others do it too.

Definitely. Especially with all the delicious new technic parts Lego has been throwing at us the last two years! I haven't had a good chance to use them for something serious yet, but I can practice making kronkiwongis!
