I wonder if such a plane can fly in real life, because this one looks so functional-with sufficiently powerful engines, it could get lift like a rocket.

This is so cute it's almost ridiculous. I LOVE it. You got the gloss to the "show paint" perfect. You even got "Jack Ernie" looking right up on he tail.
If I may give a single observation though. I worked with the Jolly Rogers for over five years of my naval career. I helped retire the "cats" and herald the Super Hornets. The Vagabond stripe angled down the body beneath the cockpit indicates that this is VF-103 (now VFA) As such, the number needs to start with a one and not a two. The only plane out of our squad we painted in this style was number 103 (Called victory three). It was our show bird and sets near Gate Four at Norfolk Naval base now.
If you ever get out to N.A.S. Oceana in Virginia Beach, Take the time to visit the squad's ready room. Yo can actually meet "Jack" as his Skull and Femurs are interned in a display case there.

We never had any of the D's sadly. A good plane though. We had what was called Bravo Plus. It was the B with a lot of the upgrades that the Delta's had but different avionics in some areas.
I just recently retired. I served fourteen years and was in three squadrons two boats and a base repair facility for the most part. I was Aviation Maintenance.
