I think they are none of this. Well, of course they are creatures of life and live in peace and harmony, but in some conflicts they will be on their own side.

Actually it's a Deer version of a Dryad(or tree spirit, namely a walking, talking tree), but I do hope that a dryad will be used as a villain for MLP:FiM in the future, it would be interesting to see how the Ponies(Especially Applejack) would handle a foe with Plant-based Powers.
