I don't like the character but this is a very beautiful portrait of Frost.

What program do you use for painting? I like the long brush strokes

Thank you!
I always use for digital works Clip Studio Paint Very good program, I even do traditional-like sketch in digital way only in CSP.A lot of soft colors and brushes,so good personaly for me,because I can't stand for long with SAI or PS,too hard

YW

I've heard of Clip Studio Paint but I haven't used it. For retouching my 3D renders and drawing some details I rely on Photoshop and SAI. Photoshop is great and its basics aren't very hard to learn, but I fully understand it when someone prefers other software with lots of soft brush sets for sketching & painting SAI is awesome for painting hair, otherwise it's hard and confusing to me (it doesn't have a good blur tool, WTF!)

Clip Studio good for some reasons like a dynamic bruches,3d reference modeling(for creating manga),soft colors/shading.But it's definitely not for realistic artworks at all,Photoshop and SAI will be better for 3D renders, realistic works and concept art.I don't use new Photoshop, because it's too expensive for me,unfortunately But I have an old version,I use it rare, but need to try again, because need to finished Mythologies concept arts.Someday

SAI really have a big problem with blur tool,it have a watecolor brush, but it's still not like a blur tool,so i'm confused too

I'm pretty sure there must be several good and free drawing and painting software out there. The one that I know of and sometimes use is PD Howler, there's a free version available here: www.thebest3d.com/howler/downl… It has this cool feature called "particles" and you can create things like branches with a few brush strokes, very neat I've used it for painting background elements.

Oh yeah, I remember once fiddling with the SAI watercolor brush settings because I've read somewhere that you can change it and use it as a blur tool but it just wasn't good enough
