---------------------A VODKA SHOT AND LOTS OF TALKING--------------

Detective Watson tiredly stumbled into the pub, approaching the bar as he wearily raised his hand to order, "One shot of vodka please."

A rather neatly dressed bartender spun around and greeted the shabby clothed detective.

"Coming right up," the bartender said, scanning the other man briefly, "Detective Watson." His smile widens a little as he emphasized the title.

Detective Watson was in bewilderment, how could the other man possibly know who he is and more importantly, what he does? "H--how do y--you..." He stammered as he shakingly leaned closer to the man with slick black hair.

"It's purely elementary, my friend." The younger looking male cut in before he could finish the sentence.

"The news have been rambling on about the recent strings of robberies occurred around this area, it's a small town so obviously, I thought, our boys in blue COULD NOT possibly solve this on their own. So THEREFORE," He clearly stressed the words as he gazed into the detective's eyes.
"they would have to bring someone in, someone SPECIAL."

"And that's you, isn't it Detective Watson?" The strange bartender asked without expecting any answers, smirking even more.

Shocked. Confused. Stunned. The detective could not think of anything to say but instead stared at the bartender in astonishment.

"Y--yes, that is true. B-but how did you know my name?" He managed to blurted out.

"Your watch said so." The bartender easily replied, leaning over the counter a bit more comfortably. Watson looked at his watch and noticed the tiny inscription that his wife, Mary has requested to engrave as a birthday present to her beloved husband. "To John Watson, with love. From Mary."

How could he have noticed it?

"Looks like you been having a bad day, Detective." The other man commented as he poured the alcohol liquid into a tiny glass.

"Ah--uh, please call me Watson." His cheeks rose a bit redder as he tried to force an awkward smile. "And yes, indeed I did."

"No luck with finding the criminal?"

"You have no idea."

"If I were you Watson, I would try investigating the nearest locksmith around there."

At this point, the black hair bartender was leaning in close enough to the detective that their noses almost touched. Detective Watson unexpectedly flushed and clumsily jumped back from the embarrassing position. "W--what ever d-do you mean?" He blushingly stuttered.

The man flashed the detective a wicked smile and continued, "What I mean is, have you even bother checking out the locks? Like what kind of locks is it and what tools did they use to unlocked it. The marks would probably still be all over there, my dear friend." Watson was amazed at the other man's intelligence.

"Therefore, the nearest locksmith would know about locks and possibly...how to unlock it -- if you get my drift." The younger man winked.

"I--I guess I've never thought of it that way before..." Watson admitted. "You are amazing, young fellow! You should be in the force or something, we could certainly use a brain like yours." He complimented the bartender, waving his hands in awe.

The other man weakly smiled, "I appreciate the thoughts Detective but as you can see, I am quite happy with my current job already." He said as he slowly nudges the drink toward the sandy hair man's direction. "But mark my words sir, I believe we will be seeing each other a lot in the near future." He spoke in a hushed tone, low enough just for the two of them to heard.

"Excuse me?" Watson did not understand.

The younger man just smiled and said nothing, continued to return to his work and brought the vodka shot in front of the confused detective's face.

"Your drink, sir."

In case you were wondering, this is a spur of the moment thingy...Holmes/Watson in an alternative universe, a more modern universe I suppose, where Watson is a hard working detective that barely looked after his appearance and Holmes is a charming, smooth talking, slick dressing man who is also a criminal * W *
