It was one almost ordinary day in Ponyville, when Watermelana finally convinced her unicorn boyfriend, Thatsa Releaf, to cast some new spells to help her out at her temporary fruit stall. Anxious and nervous, Thatsa Releaf finally cast a spell, though it wasn't to plan. His intention was to help Watermelana lift a batch of melons onto her cart, however, nothing happened...or so they thought. Watermelana continued her day as usual until, when chopping fruit in a rush, she chopped the smallest chunk of her hoof right off. Screaming and flapping around ensued, until she realised that she wasn't in pain, nor bleeding..She inspected her strange wound only to realise that somehow, her flesh was watermelon! She closely viewed the cut and could see it heal up almost instantly. In seconds it was if nothing ever happened. She didn't mention it to Thatsa Releaf, yet.

She had to travel to the other side of Ponyville later that day, and did so with caution. She felt tired and heavy, so had to land in a large area of trees to rest her wings. Little known to her, she was on the outskirts of the Everfree Forest.

As she preened, she heard an ominous, low growl emanating from the bush right behind her. She turned to be face to face with the Manticore. She instantly squealed, startling the beast with the high pitch sound and frightening it so much that it lunged at her, sinking its claws and teeth deep into her now fruit like body. It bit at her legs and scratched at her ears, like a kitten with yarn. She managed to wriggle free and dart up a tree. She was torn apart, but still in one piece...just. She felt no pain, however, was frightened pale.

She managed to somehow return home, and knocked on Thatsa Releaf's door. She smiled, a dead faced smile, and fluttered on into his living room with this flat grin on her face and glassy staring eyes. He trotted from his kitchen to see her and almost collapsed at the sight of his almost disembodied lover. Watermelana sat on his couch calmly, smiled and lifted her mangled hoof. Thatsa Releaf, feeling very woozy had a closer look and he could see the wounds quite quickly healing themselves up.

Thatsa Releaf stuttered "Wha-" but was swiftly interrupted.
"So that spell you cast on me earlier...this is what it did to me. I'm a gotdamn fruit!"
he couldn't speak through shock.
"You literally turned my innards to watermelon. Luckily for you, it heals right up, but holy heck, look at the mess! I got attacked by this lion with wings! I wonder if there's slices of me left in that forest!"
Before Watermelana could finish, Thatsa darted off to the bathroom to throw up. The thought of her being killed by a Manticore and the thought of losing her was too much for his state of mind.

He shortly reappeared in the front room, Watermelana completely healed up.
"I'm sure that not feeling pain and not having blood is all good and well, but I really would like my original body parts back, please..." Watermelana looked at him, as he trembled in the doorway.

"I...I'm terribly sorry my love. In terms of the circumstances, I believe I'm not in the right, how should I say, state of mind? I don't think I'm able to help you m..my dear. I don't want to make things worse...I..I'm absolutely sorry, love...I think...I emphasise on think...that this...form, so to speak, is only temporary...How about we get you to bed and I'll get you a cup of tea and we can relax, you know. Nothing a jolly ol' cup of tea wont fix!" He laughed nervously, no smile on his face. "I just can't believe I put you in this predicament, my dear. I'm sort of glad, though, if you got hurt and injured in such a way, I'm sure it would have been fatal. I..I dread to imagine what may have become of you, had I not henceforth messed you up in such a way. I'm incredibly sorry..Now let me help you upstairs."

Watermelana smiled at the jabbering idiot she called her partner. "Come on. I need a hug after that. I'd never been so frightened in my life!"
