I love animals. Always have. They are awe-inspiring, and historically animals have been significant to all cultures, some of them even being deified.
Climate-action is more pertinent than ever. There is very little impact we can have as individuals, but that is no mean to give up hope. Hope is always the right choice. We must believe there are actions we can take, lest we surrender the planet to profits for the various industries and people most responsible for emissions.
What comes to mind when you think about emissions? Who is making the most?
...
Fossil fuels - this is probably the most well known.
Animal agriculture - we chop down staggering amounts of forest for cattle pastures. That includes the amazon rain-forest! Going vegan is the most sustainable, but that is too hard of a sell for most people. Begin with reducing the amount of meat in your diet.
Rich people - private jets and gigantic yachts which are only outsized by their crass consumerism.
This is just what I thought of in the moment. There are news outlets and scientists who's job it is to educate and spread the message about this human-driven climate crisis.
If you love animals, use that love to make a difference. Push and pressure your government to make sustainable choices.
