I wanted to use actual metal (brass) cross-cut tabs. But leather seemed like the way to go for this one.

Oo! Either would look fantastic - just achieve very different looks. I'd love to see the brass version with a belt strap for hanging off one's person - as an occultist or battle priest or mage might wear it!
