Description Within a remote village, there lived a people who believed in a great prophecy. For centuries, they supported the Grayleaf Clan with the belief that a descendant would be born, one with the potential to save the world from a terrible evil that would one day threaten it. That descendant has now come of age, and the elder has gathered the village to witness the ceremony.

"Today hath we gathered all here, for the final son of the Grayleaf Clan hath come of age, and lo, it shall be that the prophecy is at long last fulfilled this day. This shining silver star is the treasure of this village, safeguarded throughout the centuries for this day of days. It is a legendary artifact, possessing the power to grant any wish. Take it, Casino Grayleaf. Clasp it in your hands, close your eyes, and wish to become the hero of prophecy. The fate of our world rests on your shoulders."

In the elder's hand is a little star, shining brilliantly in a silvery light. Casino takes the star and holds it in his hands, closes his eyes, and suddenly feels a rush, as though being pulled away by some powerful force.

When he opens his eyes, Casino finds himself in an endless void.

"W-Where am I? What is this place? Am... am I dead? Is this the afterlife? There's... nothing. Oh, stars above! There's nothing! Nothing! No! No! No!"

Suddenly, an elegant figure descends from above and hovers before him, an angelic woman with a pale complexion and long silvery hair.

"Be not afraid, son of Grayleaf."

"W-What is this place? How do I get home?!"

"In the physical world, time has stopped, and you are holding a silver star. That star is a fragment of my power and consciousness, and this void is the realm of my consciousness. I am the elder goddess Silver, the creator of your world. I shall grant you any one wish you desire, after which you shall return to your world and remember nothing of this."

"The... the creator?! You're THE goddess?! You're real?!"

"This is so. Dwell not on it overly much, son of Grayleaf, for it shall be just as quickly forgotten. It is best for a human's sanity not to be burdened with knowledge of such things."

"..."

"What troubles you, son of Grayleaf?"

"Could you... not call me that?"

"What would you have me call you?"

"I... uhh..."

"There is infinite time in this place, and my patience too is without limitation. Speak to me, and I shall listen."

"I'm supposed to wish to become the hero of prophecy. That's what everyone wants from me."

"But you do not want that, do you?"

"Not at all. The hero of prophecy is... I... I..."

Casino falls to his knees and begins to bawl.

"There, there. Tell me, what is it that YOU would you like?"

"..."

"It is alright, you can tell me."

"I... I want to be... to be the hero I want to be?"

"The hero you want to be?"

"She's cute, spunky, tomboyish, not like the hero of prophecy, and not like..."

Casino gestures at himself.

"...this."

"Hmm..."

Silver performs a gesture with her hand, and a looking glass appears before a transformed Casino.

Casino stares into her reflection in awe.

"Does this form please you?"

"Stars above! It's a dream come true! Everything I've ever wanted!"

Tears begin to stream down Casino's face.

"I... I want this. I want this more than anything. But if I wish for this... what will the others think?"

"Those who truly care for you will value your happiness. It is far easier to bring joy to others when you yourself are happy."

"Is this really okay? I was given the star to wish for something I don't want. But I want to be happy. For once in my life, I just... want to be happy."

Silver smiles.

"Choose to be happy, daughter of Grayleaf."

Casino smiles with tears in her eyes.

"The hero I want to be. This feminine form you've given me, along with divinity and the power of a hero. Can I wish for that?"

"Three requests, that is certainly a large wish... but it is within my power. Though, are you certain becoming divine is what you want, or merely what you feel is expected of you?"

"Of course I want to be divine, who wouldn't want that?"

"Most mortals have no desire to become divine. They are not like the gods. Their minds are not wired for eternal life. Their lives have a beginning, middle, and end. If there is no ending, their mind slowly unravels until there remains only an empty husk ravaged by insanity. Once a person becomes divine, they shall exist forevermore. It cannot be reversed, as even I am powerless to do so."

"..."

"I do not mean to frighten or discourage. Though I created your kind, the results are random, some of which even I do not understand. You were born male, yet wanted to be female. I did not choose that fate for you, though I shall help you change it. And there are rare few mortals who are like the gods, for whom a mortal life seems far too short, and even as the world around them changes throughout the ages, still want to experience it forever. It is possible you are meant to be divine. What does your heart tell you?"

Casino ponders in thought for a while before finally answering.

"I want to be divine. I'm sure of it."

"The form I have bestowed upon you, divinity, and the power of a hero. The hero you want to be. Is this what you wish for?"

"Yes, it is. Goddess Silver, please grant my wish."

----------

I've only depicted Casino before her metamorphosis about three times or so. It's always been during her childhood, with this being the first time I've shown her as a young adult just prior to making the wish.

Though Casino appears significantly more masculine here than most of my male characters, it's merely an exaggeration of what she looked like. Due to gender dysphoria, this is how she saw herself.

Her childhood involved horrific abuse and relentless training, forced to conform to the will of the village elder. Elder Set believed that Casino's will was sufficiently broken and would wish to become the hero of prophecy. Fortunately, Silver was able to help guide Casino into choosing herself.
