Ohmaigawsh. What's this? Silver is drawing things again? Amazing.
I tried a few new things here, like doing more detail on the bridle, trying a new shading technique, and doing a background I've never really done before, so I'm pretty pleased with it.
Anyway.
The story is partly about the events leading up to the show, in addition to the show itself.

"What do you mean, Highwayman can't jump?" Charlotte demanded. She and Courtney, one of Mystic Seaside Stables' show riders, were standing the the main office, trying to work out show schedules.
"Before his last show, he injured his right front fetlock. He didn't show signs of pain, but it must have been hurting him, because he placed last," Courtney explained. "I could feel that something was wrong, but he hadn't been acting abnormal at all, so we kept going."
"He placed last?" Charlotte asked in disbelief. "I can't believe this. I just can't."
"You should be worried about Highwayman, not his publicity!" Courtney snapped, raising her voice.
"I am worried about Highwayman!" Charlotte snapped back, raising her voice to match Courtney's. "But if he can't recover fully from this, his show career is over. He's only eight years old. Why would you jump him if he didn't feel right?"
"How was I supposed to know he was hurt?" Courtney exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air. "Don't you dare blame this on me."
"Fine, then whose fault is it?" Charlotte snapped.
"Nobody's!" Courtney yelled. "Why are you so concerned with blaming it on somebody?"
"Because..." Charlotte trailed off. "You wouldn't understand." She glared at Courtney and stalked off toward the office door.
"You're the stable owner. The only thing I don't understand is why you won't take responsibility for anything!" Courtney called after her. Charlotte slammed the door hard after her, making the small building tremble.

Gwen Thompson, the co-owner of MSS strolled across the courtyard between the main barn and the tack room, which was in its own small building next to the office. She had just returned from bringing some of the horses inside from the pastures, and was about to take Skipper out for a ride. As she walked, whistling softly to herself, she heard shouting coming from inside the office. It sounded like Charlotte and Courtney, which was unusual, as Charlotte was generally known for being calm and not losing her temper. Concerned, she hurried toward the door, hoping to break up the argument before it became too serious. Before she got there, however, the door flew open and Charlotte stormed out. She slammed the door behind her, saw Gwen, and began walking briskly in the other direction. Gwen ran after her.
"Charlotte, wait up!" she called. Charlotte just walked faster, toward the main barn. Gwen rushed up to her and cornered her against the wall of the barn.
"What was that?" she questioned.
"What was what?" Charlotte replied, glaring at Gwen.
"I heard you yelling in the office. It wasn't Courtney's fault," she said calmly.
"Right. Sure."
"Don't you dare get sarcastic with me!" Gwen barked, moving aside so that Charlotte wasn't pinned against the wall.
"Fine," Charlotte replied, starting to walk away.
"Charlotte Rose Marris, you listen to me!" Gwen shouted. "Go apologize to Courtney."
"No. It was her own damn fault."
"Apologize. Now. Stop being so childish."
Charlotte sighed and turned back to face her friend. "You're right, I know..." Charlotte sighed again and walked back toward the office.

Highwayman was supposed to be competing in the show at Dark Alley Stables, but due to his injury, it didn't look like he would be able do. Charlotte, Gwen, and Courtney met in the office later that day to decide what to do. They eventually came to the conclusion that either Pippa or Classy should replace him in the show. However, since Classy was also scheduled to compete the same week in another show, it was decided that Pippa would be replacing Highwayman. Preparations were made, and in no time at all, Charlotte, Gwen, and the gray mare had arrived at Dark Alley Stables, ready to show what they could do. Charlotte and Pippa were scheduled to be the last competitors in their class, so they had some time to observe the competition.
As they walked across the beautiful grounds of Dark Alley Stables, Gwen spotted Boogieman in his pasture. The little stallion had competed at MSS many times, and they were glad to see him.
"Hey, Boogie!" Gwen cooed, prancing up to the fence. "I haven't seen you in a while!" She extracted a small carrot from her pocket and fed it to him, giggling as he dripped carroty foam on her hands while chewing.

Finally, it was Charlotte's and Pippa's turn in the arena. As Charlotte sat on the mare's back, mentally reviewing the course, Gwen offered words of encouragement.
"You know what you're doing, Charlotte. Just go out there and show them what you can do. That's all anyone can ask."
Pippa, as always, stood calmly, unfazed by the commotion of the crowd. As the horse ahead of them finished their round, the announcer called Charlotte in.
"Next up, we have Miss Charlotte Marris riding MS Paradise Circle from Mystic Seaside Stables!" the announcer boomed over the loudspeaker.
Gwen gave Pippa a light tap on the rump to get her moving and dashed up into the stands to get a seat. As Charlotte started her round, she felt Pippa's smooth strides beneath her. They finished their opening circle and headed toward the first jump.
