The manga is not different from the anime. I've seen both. His sight faded in both the manga and the anime.
It was the result of overusing Susano. He was then given a new pair of eyes by Uchiha Madara.
The only thing that is different in the anime is the fillers, but the ones who are making the fillers and
the ones who are making actual episodes is not even the same company. Do not read spoilers and assume it to always be the truth.

When I saw this, I instantly thought of Naruto Shippuden: Kizuna... So I think this would make a really great cover for the DVD or something... It's so beautiful and emotional! His expression is so painful and I can see the anguish in his eyes and posture. This is a really fantastic piece. I love it!
