Description The Akha ethnic minority originates from China. Many migrated to Thailand and Laos in the early 20th century. Nowadays about 80 000 Akha live in the northern provinces of Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai.Β They speak Akha, a language from the Tibeto-Burman family. In the past they were known to grow opium, but nowadays they switched to mountain rice, corn and soybeans. Another economic revenue comes from the tourism industry, with tours visiting villages where people can buy arts & crafts "made" by the Akha. From what i've seen they mostly play the role of intermediaries. Not much of the crafts are made in the villages, except for the traditional hats as you can see here.

Nikon D300, Tokina 12-24mm, B + W UV filter.

When you've been about 15-20 times to visit them, they start to know you and they don't mind Anyway, the most visited Akha villages are visited every day by many tourists... If you want to see the real akha's, you got to take time and go off the tourist route...

I like the picture, i really like it but i dunno, i just cant like too much the tokina...i just cant see that kinda sharpness the Nikon 12-24 or the Nikon 14-24 are able to give...im prolly wrong coz i dont have any of em but i've just been able to use em some times , but thats it, call it an impression.Whats your opinion? did u have any chance to compare your lens with the Nikkor ones?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

slecocqphotography In reply to e1david [2011-02-20 21:45:05 +0000 UTC]

I have many kinds of lenses... Nikor, Tokina, Tamron, Carl Zeis... If you can work with a camera, even the worst lens will make a sharp shot

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

e1david In reply to slecocqphotography [2011-02-21 13:39:04 +0000 UTC]

suggesting there's no difference between lenses? thats a interesting point of view... i have to disagree tho, but still interesting. have a nice day.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

slecocqphotography In reply to e1david [2011-02-21 14:20:12 +0000 UTC]

I don't say there is no difference, i say, when you know how to use your stuff, you can make a great shot with anything. Some people think too much about camera's and lenses instead of focusing on how to use their equipment
