Thank you.  I thought they were too.  I don't hunt, but I find bones interesting, and would love to collect them, but most of the grounds I go to are VERY protected, and they frown upon that.

Oh, I see! I love bones too, an old art teacher of mine had a collection of real animal skulls(from cow to ferret) he used for still lives sometimes - those were super fun to draw.

I bet they were.  All we ever drew were vases and hats.  An old friend of my sister's has a cat skeleton intact, he found it under an air conditioning unit.  I think it is so lovely, and would love to buy it from him.  He shan't sell it though.  Now I'm super jealous of you.

Oh the vases, bane of my existence XD We've drawn tons of them too, as well as fruit and statues.
Wow the cat skeleton sounds amazing! Does he keep it assembled in a glass case or something?

Same here when I was in art school, and learning to draw "their" way I was so sick of cowboy boots, vases, fake fruit, and cowboy hats.

He does not keep it in a glass case it just sits there on his mantel.  I wish he would, but he's kind of an alcoholic and doesn't think about things like that.  He doesn't see the beauty, he just thinks it's cool.

Well I kinda get their point - still lives are good for learning the basics of lighting and composition etc., but making them more varied would be really nice. I wish we could have a cowboy hat though! XD I actually have an old stuffed heron from one of the drawing classes - our teacher wanted to throw him away: img210.imageshack.us/img210/19…

Oh, that's a pity. My grandfather was alcoholic too, it can do ugly things to people.

Yeah, still life is great, but after a semester or two I just became so bored.  I was so grateful for the nudes instead of the hats.

That is so awesome about the stuffed heron bird.  I can't believe the teacher would just throw that out.  No matter what shape it's in it's a beautiful creature to see.  I'm jealous.

As for the guy with the cat skeleton, I feel bad for him, his father gave him his first drink and marijuana smoke.  He never had a chance to live without drugs in his life.  I can only hope he's okay at this point.

I LOVE that picture....the wig adds glamor lol...

That's so true! Did you do some landscapes too?

Yeah, I don't get why he didn't want the bird either, it looks perfectly fine even though it's pretty old. His name is Hieronymus and he currently resides on my wardrobe!

Ohh that sounds very sad. Most people can't break the addiction by themselves, but I do know a former alcoholic who managed to heal and has been living clean for over 10 years by now. He went to a special clinic though and spent a while there.

I am not good at landscapes or still life....lol...I taught myself to draw from comic books, and I am adding those old pics this weekend.  So I mainly focused on elves, and then moved to the more human form and then just portraits.

I love finding weird and exotic items my room is filled with them.  I am my mother's caregiver and live with her in her house.  I don't have much space to place my oddities, most are in boxes.  I don't understand why people don't have more of an interest in the strange.  I love the off-beat items of life.  They are inspirational.

As for the young man, who by the way, is on the last page of my deviations as "Punk rock boy" I feel bad for him as well.  He chooses to not seek help, but I hope he does before it literally kills him.  I am an addict, but was able to conquer my demons with therapy and time.  It's a rough road, but you definitely have to want it.  Sober now for 6 years; my demons were drugs not alcohol.  I'm glad your friend is better, it's always nice to hear that someone is able to stop the damage and  heal.

I've had the problem with landscapes for a long time too, but then just decided that it's absolutely necessary to learn to draw them too - if I wanna make comics sometime, they need backgrounds! Human bodies and faces are definitely more fun though.
Oh I see. A room filled with oddities would be a dream, I looove arranging things and decorating rooms. it is truly sad that some are so scared of anything weird or unusual they are missing out on a lot!
Well, let's hope for the best. The person always has to recognise the problem by themselves and start seeking help to begin healing. I am very glad that you were able to beat the addiction! You are very strong if you managed to do it.^^

No, this is a reserve where animals are protected, but when they find the bones of bison, deer, birds and others they collect them so kids can see what they look like.  It's a beautiful place.  So, I didn't dig anyone up...yet...
