this comic is based on the gadget bomb explotion in new mexico, isn't it? the crystal mountain is made of trinitit and the reason the "bad" started is becuase the animals drank the raidio-active water, turning the hair White, its just a theory, and if it's right then thank this channel for the info www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQbvOl…

So they are food. I would think they'd be used for breeding stock, given this is the end of the world and there probably isn't much food left.

I wonder why they took Plucky if she's inedible. Literally every edible piece of a deer is covered in her case so maybe they just want to experiment or observe her?

SaturnStar3 In reply to CorrinaFloraline [2019-08-18 04:25:13 +0000 UTC]
That might have something to do with how the Bad affects an animal's body. Remember when Plucky got attacked by those wolves and when one bit her she bled clear/something that wasn't blood and the wolf spat her out cause she tasted bad? The Bad might make the affected animals inedible and seeing how all the edible parts of a deer are covered in Bad in Plucky's case, she's pretty much useless to them.

Well the humans have the deer for eating purposes. What's the use in a deer you can't eat? They might want to observe her but that's all she can do for them.

Poor plucky, I'm wondering what they're going to do with her since she isn't edible like the rest. Is it still possible to send a ref of a deer for the cameo?

I kinda wish I had the time to offer up my character as well. She's a ash doe with vitiligo (if ya dunno what it is think of albinism but only effecting patches of the body, these patches can also shrink or grow and spread.)

SleepySundae In reply to kurisutaru [2019-08-18 00:06:33 +0000 UTC]
Unfortunately a character like that would not have been able to make it in. White patches that change in size would definitely make it look like she has the Bad.

kurisutaru In reply to SleepySundae [2019-08-19 10:43:14 +0000 UTC]
It's not one day you have a white bloch the next day you don't. Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease that causes the pigment-producing cells to stop functioning, causing loss of skin color in blotches in effected areas. There are no noticeable signs of it spreading if there is any at all, we are talking slight changes month to month or even year to year if any, not day to day. As new skin is made the pigment-producing cells may start up again thus the blotches fading with time, growing smaller, or blotches of color where there were none may appear.

Theresa deer with it.
I had a snake with it and the only way you noticed the changes were through photos taken over the years.

There's a good idea of what I meant by it can come and go. This guy when he was a kid (seen 2 minutes in) had a patch down the center of his face that was wide, now as an adult, parts of it has faded away, the blotch is narrower. A change over YEARS.

WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?!?!?!
At least tell me that these humans are smart enough to breed the deer before killing off the adults!

ugh dude, c'mon don't say that.. you would rather have them add domestication to the mix? it's bad enough as it is..
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Stephlover In reply to DevilAntRat [2019-08-17 20:26:30 +0000 UTC]
Would you rather have them slowly wipe out the population of non-bad animals until only bad animals roam the world beyond the wall? At least this way if they captured as many non-bad animals as they could and kept them safe and healthy then maybe they could kill off the bad animals and then slowly release the healthy animals back into the wild.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DevilAntRat In reply to Stephlover [2019-08-17 21:55:16 +0000 UTC]
you can't have healthy animals if they've been bred in captivity..
they're either pets or livestock.. nothing healthy about any of those..
Also, sure the bad is extremely unfair for big animals (kinda like technology) and doesn't allow the possibility to fight (kinda like technology) but between the two evil, at least the bad has to be consistent, humans just have to invent a new weapon to waste thousands of years of attempt of adaptation, if the bad change, it's going to change slowly and evolve like the nice virus it is.. now I know it's possible that it is magical but if it's magical it's more likely to just stays forever the same which would still make it much less dangerous to the wild than technology can be..
Better to be bad than to be bred, period..

You are free to have your own opinion but I don't agree with you here. I believe that in this comic setting and at this point in the story treating the Bad like something akin to the plague is a better solution. Kill off the infected, burn the bodies, burn the land, keep the non-infected in a secure location until the plants begin growing again and slowly begin to release small groups of animals into the wild until the population of all animals has grown into stable numbers, etc. But that's just my opinion.

DevilAntRat In reply to Stephlover [2019-08-18 18:39:10 +0000 UTC]
well the plague is really sweet compared to the bad or worse technology..
normally viruses don't kill indiscriminately like technology does..viruses can only kill the weak.. a bullet or a knife or a slaughterhouse will kill indiscriminately regardless of the fitness or intelligence of the animal, they will all die 100% chance.. the bad still account for fitness, speed, and intelligence even if it negates strength and size.. so animals are better off dealing with the bad than dealing with humans..
because there is no way to deal with humans..you just die and get controlled and you become a mere number because humans don't want your species to die out because they like seeing your kind exist regardless of whether your life is worth living, regardless of whether it creates any new diversity or more life to exist on earth or not..
domestication is terrible is the worse fate, it's even worse than being subjected to a conservation program that involves shooting quotas..
