Incredible work! I particularly appreciate the effort you went to in order to make their hair textured properly - it's an easy thing to pass on, but in the end having realistically matted, tangled hair becomes one of the most important details of a sculpture like this. Superb!

thank you. I really like dreads and hope to use them more often. Im learning to make the candy stripe twisted type as well. its brings some Β oportunity for fantasy colors and bits of interest if I add beads etc. texture is very important to me .

Β I usualy use Premo brand clays, but the mixing was making my hands sore. For the grey busts Ive been using super sculpy with a bit of premo mixed in.

super sculpy is $14 for Β 1lb. Β  I use an armature of aluminum foil and some wire. i dont get a bulk discount Β yet. Id want to make sure the clay would stay fresh.

Β its not too difficult if you Β put a thin sheet of clay on a form. then bake it on the form. its a very stylized mask meant to look like a wolf. so Β not hard really. thanks

Pretty hot.Β  I dig that mask.Β  Is it fixed to the head or can it be maneuvered down onto the face?

Sleetwealth In reply to MeatRoots [2013-08-11 02:33:08 +0000 UTC]

Β its glued in place. However, teh next one I want to make a moveable mask. Ive figured out how to sculpt a very thin Β ornate mask and not have it distort after baking.
