Description

A bit ago, a bunch of pals and I chatted about changing up the names of semi-canon characters to ones that have more apparent meanings, because we found it fun to do! As far as I could tell, there wasn't much meaning in Diku, Dwala, and Naanda, so I had a field day searching up names for Sarabi's sisters, ones that fit the theme of Sarabi's own name.

Sarabi (meaning 'mirage') is the oldest of the four.

Taswira (meaning 'vision') is the second oldest sister and plays the role of the abrasive, judgemental auntie. She's kinda the Zuri of her generation. She's always got something to say about someone. Make no mistake though; she's not a bad person, and she cares deeply about her family! She just lacks a filter sometimes lol. Taswira is the mother of Mtoto (which is just a nickname in my fanon; his real name is Uhuru), and mate to Mshauri, who some may recall is a character I made to be Mufasa and Scar's triplet sister. I have yet to expand on these two, but Mshauri is the only lion ever to melt Taswira's icy heart. Taswira is a midwife for the Pride.

Ndoto (meaning 'dream') is the third sister. She's soft-spoken and sensitive by nature, as well as being a bit of an airhead. She's a bit of a romantic and, as her namesake suggests, used to dream of finding a big strong fella to sweep her off her feet. She does find that, I just haven't made him yet. Ndoto is a medic.

Dhana (meaning 'idea' or 'belief') is the youngest. Where Taswira speaks, Dhana hears. She's curious, skeptical, and observant. I'm on the fence about this, but character-wise as I kept drawing her and thinking of her personality, I kept thinking it'd be cool if she was like a private detective in some kinda way that fits in the TLk universe, like working with the Lion Guard on "mysterious happenings" or whatever. No idea if that even works lol, but she's the type to be married to her job.

Their designs and personalities are all based on this one screenshot of this trio of background lionesses who had very distinctive expressions in response to Scar and Simba fighting. For the life of me, I can't find the actual screenshot but I happened to use it for my family tree (work in progress) here , Taswira the strong reactor, Ndoto the soft one, Dhana the openly curious one.

ALSO, I JUST WANNA PUT IT OUT THERE: I'm in no way saying anyone is obligated to change character's names. By doing it, I'm not demanding anything of you! I just find it fun and a great motivator to write more unique backstories/personalities for well-known characters. No one's given me shit for this, also, just wanted to clarify that!
