is it actually chocolate or a food product that tastes like chocolate?

Sliceofcake In reply to iKissWolves [2009-09-06 21:00:17 +0000 UTC]

A basic ganache is made by pouring boiling cream over pieces of chocolate and stirring till combined. The ratio of chocolate and cream is usually 50:50 but can be varied to suit different purposes. Flavoring like alcohol or vanilla essence etc may be added if desired.

Did you use a special type of tip(s) to make those designs with the frosting? Which one(s)?

Looks so awesome! Always wanted to try making one of those giant cupcakes... definitely need to get me one of those pans! <3

I just used a regular star tip (about 1cm diameter).

Didn't use any special pans to make it. The "cup" portion is just a regular round cake trimmed slightly to give it a slight taper. The top curved portion, I baked the cake in a round metal bowl. After that, just stack the 2 and decorate.

Oh ok, thanks! The designs looked bigger so I thought it was a special tip. Wilton has a pan to make giant cupcakes, so that was the pan I was referring to. Thanks for the info c:
