Yeah. I'm hoping to try this skirt as an exercise to do a larger spread of morphs so I can get a better idea what all this is! Thanks!

You're thinking of sculptris I believe, but no. This was done in marvelous designer. It's a very different tool than the others. It's more akin to actual sewing than modeling (but not that eΓ sy, admittedly! )

It's a very different type of tool than daz or hexagon. The end result is still 3d meshes, but it's done physics based, like regular sewing would be. You create shapes, assign them a fabric type, and stitch them together around a 3d mannequin. If you cut your skirt too big, it falls off. If you forgot to stitch something, it slips open. It's fun, but a challenge especially as I have no formal sewing experience whatsoever.

Hmmm...can you create the shapes based off of templates that other artists have used so that it would be considered a "standard"?
For instance, the V4 bodysuit has a certain way that it fits. If you were to be able to use the template and put it on, then be able to change the surfaces sections so that you could color and texture the new or old item in different areas, and in different ways.
is something like that possible?

I believe for something like that you would want to checkout the program "blacksmith3d" - that's better intended for changing surface sections, uv maps, etc.
I think with this tool, you could import the V4 bodysuit as a "template" and add things to it, perhaps? but modifying the existing model seems unlikely in my quite limited experience thus far.

That's so wonderful! Gratz on your first clothing item!
It looks great, did you do it in Hexagon?
(That's one of the big diffs between us, my DA gallery is both my scratchpad and my gallery, I post it all. I am aware that some folks use two accounts, one for a "Fine Art" gallery, but I guess I don't see the need.)

I'm hoping to be able to improve it, see if I can get it more usable. We'll see what I can do!

Good job. Just make sure to rig it in Daz. If it's not rigged in Daz, it won't work right in Daz.

I used the Transfer Utility in daz to rig it. It seems to fit well, and it handles moves decently well, but not anywhere near good enough to "trust" yet!

Your welcome have not tried 3d programing before how do Daz work?

SlimMckenzie In reply to sonicfan156 [2016-05-27 14:06:33 +0000 UTC]
Daz is a 3d rendering program. It's not really designed to create any of the objects, just to setup the scene, light it, and everything with posing and dressing the models.
