When Baron Ashura clocked Z. It's right about then when I said, "Fuck This." Also, the mile-long exposition explaining that Z is Zeus, rather than revealing that organically as a part of the narrative, and having the entire series spoiled before it even begin, leaving your audience totally in over their heads; it's writing and directing decisions like these that screwed this series for me right off the bat.
Oh, and...
"Sono Na o...
Sono Na o...
Sono Na o..."
God, SHUT UP!
Seriously, I've never seen a more annoying use of a narrator.
It's padded, boring, barely follows who it's supposed to and Jumps the shark WAY too early. That's why we hate it.

I think it has something to do with Z turning into I giant fist. That was unnecessary. That & it seems like Mazinger Z is overpowered compared to his original incarnation. I mean, the Photon Beam is supposed to be a minor attack from what I understand. And it takes down an airship with no problem. I do like the new Mazinger Army! They look so much better then they did in the old manga! And Boss Borot was pretty awesome!

What's wrong with Z turning into a giant fist? I mean, the rocket punch is basically Mazinger's staple. Going into overdrive by having it turn into a giant fist doesn't seem that farfetched. As for it being overpowered, well that was technically how Go Nagai made his robots to begin with. He made the super robots so powerful that the villain had to come up with plans in order to defeat it, not just straightforward attacks. It hardly seems strange that Mazinger is overpowered here when the original was technically overpowered to begin with.

The point I'm trying to make is that giving Z the power to turn into I giant fist doesn't make him classic anymore. It makes him 1 of those generic modern robots with some really testosterone powered gimmick. Like Gurren Lagann. I like Z the way he was. The Rocket Punch alone is what made him so memorable because he was the 1st to do it. I mean, if they wanted to make a story based on Z Mazinger, then why not just make it a story about Z Mazinger. He is well overdue for an OVA or something! He was so bad-ass!

Kaiser! What a waste of a license. I could think of so many things that deserve it more than this.
Koutetsushin Jeeg, anyone?

Yes look on Discotek media's site in the new section they have the series listed for a 2015 release. They also have the first half of the original series for sale with the other half coming I think this December.

I think people got turn off because the first espiodes, they try to give away epic story without telling anything, leaving the viewers confuse. Seriously you can skip the first espiode you be better off, the show is doing a retelling a 50+ old shows in 26 epsiodes and the rest is seem like trying to built a foundation for franchise.
Don't get wrong me the show isn't bad is good even, but it just seem to alienate their targets audience and expected more sequels right away.
