I never thought of the SR 71 as tiled but looking at the Space Shuttle it makes sense
to go Mach 4+ they had to generate alot of heat

Oh, I really like this, the dark atmosphere is fantastic. SR-71.
Also I have been learning how to use Maya, made a troll face from one of the rigs.

Very nice image!!!
in your previusly image of this plane, i think you used iRay, is that correct?
Is Octane render better/faster than iRay?

Smattila In reply to Davide-sd [2012-04-14 15:18:20 +0000 UTC]
Yeah that is correct. In my oppinion Octane render is currently superior to Iray in both features and speed. It also seems to be using less memory to do the same tasks

Great work, that is probably one of the hardest planes to recreate in 3D, and of course one of the most beautiful out there.

Do you have this image at a higher resolution (1920x1080)?
Would love this as my wallpaper.

Impressive as always. You did have to choose a hard angle though, didn't you?
I do have to agree with ~synax444 about the composition, but you made up for it, in my opinion, with the great work on the lighting.

Nice bud, the clouds kind of mess with my eyes as far as the composition goes, but damn awesome jet...

Very atmospheric and dark, yet still keeping all the detail in the aircraft. Great stuff.

It might be a little wonky but you're not going to notice running for a bus. The fact that you can pick out relatively subtle detail on a black aircraft against a black sky without blowing out the lighting is quite an achievement.

Thanks! The normal mapping on the bottom is a bit sloppy. I tried to hide that with the dark background xD
