could use some warmth, but that's just my preference. I also think the nearest tree would look better silhouetted.

i love the grandness of this landscape, though! i feel like I'm up high looking down and far away.

Yes that looks very realistic, quite unbelievable actually. You have also used the light very well to create this beautiful atmosphere.

Well done, did you have to put the trees in one by one?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Smattila In reply to MadkingToucan [2012-03-13 11:35:39 +0000 UTC]

Nah. Terragen can populate millions of trees with functions and you can restrict their places with slope, altitude etc.

Chromattix [2012-03-13 01:18:36 +0000 UTC]

I'm tempted to point out that the pine trees seem a little large once you reach the areas where they are more scattered higher up, but man - the whole thing still looks incredibly realistic. I'm used to seeing Terragen and Vue renders that are good but this one has an even more natural look to it and I think the atmosphere plays a huge role too

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Smattila In reply to Chromattix [2012-03-13 10:12:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah you are probably correct. I'm currently doing some test frames for animation.. I might change the trees before I'm done. The scene is rather heavy to render due atmospherics but I'm convinced that I have more rendering power after the summer I will definitely render atleast 200 frames where the clouds move and camera only slightly

thats just fantastic work, what did you do it in? must ahve taken you a while to do

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Smattila In reply to RightoffHell [2012-03-13 10:09:45 +0000 UTC]

Iterating from the last scene didnt take that much time, I just had to find the right settings for clouds and such. Im still not sure if I should change the light..Will see..Im currently running some test frames for animation, tho this will take some time since it's very renderheavy scene
